Anyone who has been around for a while will know about The Bunny Hole and more recently the Sandbox over at N42/TG.

Well, it has closed down. I know not many of you frequented it, but I enjoyed it and will miss it, soo.....I'd like one here.

I do however appreciate the fine line that has to be drawn within the topics that may cause issues, and would hope that admin'd right and with the group of people we have that this could be done well.

I can see both sides to having this thread, but will respect whatever the decision is.

Incidentally, don't reply to this thread asking what I'm talking about if you don't know,  I'm taking a gamble that the right people do know. Any of you more senior fellas, if I'm talking crap, let me know.

I think it's a sound idea, although I strongly suggest you put a post limit on me, or things might get out of hand  ;)

Seriously, I agree there could be some issues and we'll probably see a fair number of closed threads and deleted posts. I think it would work if it was well moderated. I alos think it would be a great forum to read and post to. So :thumbsup: from me.

Anyway, the Sandbox is still there on the TG forums, it's just that you have to pay $9 membership each month to continue to access it.  According to two posts on the TG forums the reason this has happened is:

They had their own NOC and were doing everything themselves, but they just didn't get enough clients for their services to make it profitable. I believe that Tactical Gamer, now that it's on its own, is going to be leasing the bandwidth and other networking assets from some other data center and all TG membership funds are going to be used strictly to support the TG community. Instead of being a company trying to turn a profit and grow, we're back to being a community that simply pays for our own existence.

Like I said, I never had anything to do with the business side of this community, and a lot of what I just said is speculation, so don't take this as gospel... Perhaps Apophis will explain everything once he's done getting TG settled into its new home...

It's a request for a forum where we can discuss more serious and or satirical issues. ethics, politics, life and everything. Topical debate and healthy arguement about subject that interest us.

A disclaimer that 'the view expressed here are those of the writer and do not represent the views or opinions of the dMw admins.....' etc etc would be needed.

Moderation would be more relaxed but daft comments and off topic stuff would be treated as they are in the 'Seriously though...' forum.

That's as I understand it ?

I think it's a jolly good idea by Benny   :thumbsup:

Just a discussion pot really, I posted a tame one in but seriously.

The obvious down side being that things could degenerate and people could get upset, but admin'd right that won't happen.

The upside being I have a one stop shop to talk to people I know and respect about the stuff that interests me.

Aye, that's where I'm sticking it at the moment, wasn't sur eif that was right though, the forum says questions, but screw it , its there now......so this thread can be deleted.

I'd like to stick my oar in and say that we ought to keep the seriously now forum for questions that need specific answers such as - This is broken how do I fix it? Is this worth the money? and such like.

Topical stuff should go into a new forum. That's not a critisism of Benny posting where he did just a request for a new home for it.

I'd agree - if I've got a problem then I'd much rather someone be able to look in the right place quickly, rather than wade past a multitude of socio-political debates.
