Links to a 31Mb avi file and also states that CS:S will be free to all HL2 purchasers.
QuoteIt is mentioned that CS: S will be free for all owners of HL2 -- not just for those buy the collector's edition as previously thought. For those excited by the cs2.avi filename, keep in mind that the footage is of CS: Source and, as Gabe Newell commented in our forums, "Counter-Strike: Source isn't Counter-Strike 2, at least if you're trying to be consistent with our nomenclature."
Original Story
German print magazine PC Games have released a 5 minute video of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Source. While this short video has been seen for download from various websites, we won't be linking to any mirrors at this point in mind of PC Games' exclusive rights to the content.
As you can imagine, this means it might be some time before most us get the chance to see it. Nevertheless, we wish to respect their exclusivity in this regard and we'd ask our readers to refrain from posting mirrors in the comments/forums at this stage. With any luck, PC Games will give the green light to online mirrors in the coming days -- we'll keep you posted.
There are, however, several tidbits of interesting information revealed throughout the video which we will not hesitate to let you in on:
After the initial release, Valve plans to add more maps that utilize the engine's capabilities.
New Counter-Strke maps may be up to 10 times larger than current ones.
Valve were interested in creating some jungle maps.
They're currently figuring out to what extent new objects are being placed in the maps.
We can hope for a release during the coming Summer.
A rough transcript of whats said in the avi file.
