Title: Joining a game
Post by: Gh0st Face Killah on July 01, 2004, 08:48:00 PM
As a understood it (I'm sure i'll be corrected if I'm wrong) a general guideline was to join the losing team when you joined one of the servers. Of late this does not seem to happen at all, which results in people moaning or leaving when they are transfered. So I feel it needs to be said again. As a general rule of thumb when joining one of our servers join the losing team, unless they have a large numbers advantage.

Yup. Agree totally. I still see people on our servers whinging that the teams are uneven! The idea is to have a balanced game not necessarily balanced teams. So be well balanced like me - get a chip on each shoulder :D

And otherwise, go in specmode first ask which team if you're not sure.

Edit: Another thing, try and backup your team if they ask for it. Teamplay.

... and don't make the mistake of thinking you're the only one needing backup. ;)

I think most ppl abide by this rule! I always now join the loosing team and i think this is a code we should show to other users of the server! ;)

I normally spec and ask as I never know if the teams have just been balanced.

Although it can take 3-4 rounds befor u actualy get to join a team. As you have to wait for someone to die, ask them and wait for a reply. Then wait a round befor u can select a team. Then u might be unlucky and have to wait another round to spawn.

but if thats the price u pay for a good fun game, then im happy todo that. :)

I think you are making too much out of this guys. Join a team and use common sense. If you selected the wrong team you will be asked to switch sides. If not the admins have the wonderful tool "team player" which gives us power to move players between teams.

remember, once some players have died you can always ask from spectate mode which team they want you to join ;)

The only problem with going to spectate mode is that you miss a round because you can't change from spectate to a team until after the round ends.

console, quit rejoin.

It's not difficult to see a team, if you get it wrong the admins move you...I'm with Sadako.....emotionally.

I too am metaphorically joined at the brain with Sadako. Have a looksie at the teams, make a choice and jump in. If you got it wrong youjust have to swap.
