Question:
Should we have bots on the CZ server always?
Option 1:
votes: 0
I think they are more trouble than use. Especially when the bot quota thing messes up so no one can join.
I have null voted because I do not play CZ so do not have any view one way or another.
Basicly CZ sits there until someone want to play. If bots are enabled they will at least get a game. Actually I can see no other reason to have CZ. If it's humans you want , get on the hook!
I'm a 'yes' man by the way.

Unfortunately it isn't that easy. The bots scare the 'humans' away and we definitely lose people because of the bots. Also, the bot quota stops people from joining the server until map change and believe me the bot quota changes. Further more we the admins tend to change the settings of the server as we see fit. Yesterday when I played the autosniper and AWP was restricted. I have no idea who had done this but I can figure out why. I left the setting as it was as I figured it was set for a reason. Later on another admin joined and removed the setting and started to fire away. I think we need to agree on a setting for this server and that covers more than just the bots. I think the bots are a good start though.
Finally, we are no longer a pure CS clan if you haven't noticed that. We play CZ matches every Wednesday and that in turn means playing CZ is actually of use and it doesn't matter if there are humans on the hook or not. If your only interest in having a CZ server is to kill bots then maybe we should consider shutting it down. Killing bot is something you can set up on your own server. No reason to take bandwidth from crosswired for that.
The TCZ server is there for two purposes. Firstly to give people who are not already involved with the dMw community an opportunity to experience dMw teamwork firsthand, i.e. pimping TCS. Secondly it is somewhere we can experience CZ ourselves. Latterly we entered a CZ ladder for Delta. Setting up your own server is not the same as talking to peeps on the server and working as a unit, otherwise we'd shut the CZ server down and tell Delta to go practice for the match by themselves on their own server.
I tend to take the view that having no bots on the server to start with means that you'll get no CZ players on the server either. There is sufficient choice for players to go somewhere that already has players. Sure I would accept that bots then deter a percentage of the people from playing in the TCZ server, but if you remove the bots then you might gain 100% of zero players, whereas with bots you might get 80% of 20 players per hour. I prefer the latter as it does more for the community.
I know that when I jon the TCZ server I am guaranteed to have a game. In time more people join (if they are not already there). The TCZ server seems to attract people faster than idling on the TCS server.
Finally, if we have no bots and I join the TCZ server, then the first thing I will do is add some bots to make sure I have a game, I'm there to have fun.
The system isn't perfect, the bot quota/map change is a bug that should be fixed, but I reckon its working pretty well at the moment. We should however be making sure that the TCZ players know about dMw and the community here to try to build our base further.
As for server settings, it is an open server that we attempt to play in a TCS manner. If the restriction was on then I am sure it was on for a reason, but we don't apply buy menu restrictions on our TCS servers so I removed them.

I disagree I think the Bots bring players to the server...
the times that the bots are not there the server never as anyone on.
so i say keep em and remove em as the players arrive.

Killing bot is something you can set up on your own server
The bots act as a tool something to shoot while waiting for players
i wouldnt like to play just agaisnt bots on my own
thats why i go to our server and within a couple of rounds peeps start to arrive
I will construct a cfg file today to make setting up the server for CZ matches easy.
By the way, I am going to the CZ server now if anyone fancies a quick game...... :D

You are completely right. They join a server thinking there are real players on. They then whine about the bots for 3 rounds and then leave. Stay on the server for about 3-4 hours and you see how many players leave bacause of the bots.
I join to Play the bots until someone else joins.... it is better than sitting MH waiting.
But i am the first to say that i cannot kill the bots ....they just don't die if you empty a clip in them.

In essence this is what I was recommending, we keep the bots on and manage the bot_quota as player numbers grow and live with the map restart problem.
BUT, and this is a big BUT (which I feel qualified to use) the last admin to leave *has* to put the bots back on.
