Not having played CS for a couple of months, I wasn't aware of the existence of v1.0.0.5 until yesterday. So I asked a friend who had it to burn me a copy. So he burnt me a copy of his cstrike folder.
I copied it in, only to discover that he had the downloaded version and I had the retail version and this meant that CS just generally didn't work as it should.
Any tips for what to do? I've tried uninstalling, but I lose a lot of vital files which my friend's disc didn't seem to involve. Anybody have any suggestions?
Also, could you try not to use techno-jargon? I'm unbelievably ignorant in that area.
Hi, can't say i approve of your oral hygiene methods, Herodotus :) ...but anyway, if it's any help, dump the retail version in a box, burn the box and post the remains to somewhere very far away and go with the downloaded version instead. i had retail originally and swapped to the d/l'ed and couldn't believe how much better it ran.
ignore the surgical implant......and keep it, Retail is much better.
The question is what do u want to keep and why?

It is a 115 meg download so bear with it, if you do not have Broadband ask a friend who does to download it or one of the friendly people on here may offer to send you a CD through the post....(at this point TL normally raises hand)

BTW it isnt good practice to just copy the cstrike folder onto your machine install the patch properly.
