Quotelo m8. Just a quiet word between friends.
After match tonight there was one or two moans about bullet reg - I checked yr server rules while the match was on and the sv_maxrate was 7466 - most servers are a lot higher than this - ED config states 10000 and our own match server is set at 15000. This probably caused the bullet reg issues. We aint gonna whine about it m8 cos what's done is done and we respect you as a clan. Just thought it was worth mentioning so you can set it right in yr future matches.
Hi,
Thanks for your PM. Tbh we have had some problems the last few days with all of our servers (CS as well). We have had lag issues and Steam update problems. I actually checked the server previously today (after your forum post) and changed the values. It must have been altered again later on in the day. I am truly sorry as I also felt like the server was not 'normal'. We are happy to rematch you again on your server and map of your pick.
I will forward your comment to the CLs that are handling the server issues atm and I hope it to be resolved.
Once again, I am sorry for any inconvenience.
Cheers,
Mats
Just to clarify ...
TeaLeaf and I had both read this thread (http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98416)and decided to give it a try. Hence the strange values. Perhaps you could point it out to Napalm so they can see that we weren't trying anything underhand.
I will now revert back to more mainstream values.
Forwarded the link and waiting for his reply.
Actually under the new rates the server has generally seemed to reg slightly better as far as I am concerned.
I would also point out that most servers are struggling at the moment with steam and that we are nto alone. I dislike saying 'yeah we are having problems' without tacking on the 'like most other people are too'. It makes it look like we can't organise anything for T4nGo.
Btw, the server that Zombies played on before the Delta match had sv_maxspeed set at 900! Not that it made any difference.

This is a known issue with Steam CS. I queried it when I first noticed it yonks ago.
As you say, it makes absolutely no difference in-game. But the value should be 320 (as per most competitive league rules) so I've added a line to the configs to set it at that value.
It was an away server, but I'm sure our configs needed it anyway!

QuoteYeah no worries mate. I never thought for a moment anything sinister was going on, it's just that most servers maxrates etc are set up higher than this and most CS/CZ players have their config set up to take maximum advantage of the servers rates. All PP servers are set maxrate 15000 therefore all TP member use rate of 15000 in their configs (I think).
I'm not an expert in these matters but I think if the server setting is too low and your config is set higher this causes choke at the client side, thereby reducing bullet reg.
There does seem to be a problem with a lot of CZ servers experiencing lag - indeed the PP1 CZ server is experiencing intermittent ping issues atm. I think this is yet another Valve problem tho as CS servers were having the same problem and Valve recently rectified it, but no word of it has been mentioned for CZ yet
There is some form of mailing list you can subscribe to (the name of which escapes me atm) wherby Valve let you know what's going on with servers, any issues, when fixed etc. If you aren't already on it I'd recommend it.
Bye for now

Once OB has also commented on my below thoughts, you may or may not wish to go back to him with this extra info for clarification purposes.
A player with a updaterate higher than that allowed by the server (sv_maxrate) will play with the maxrate figure allowed by the server not the maxrate defined in the player's config. The ones omitted are interpolated by the server. This is the same for everyone. All players get the same interolation and bullet registration is therefore not affected unilaterally. The main difference in alowe rate is the amount of interpolation that goes on - more interpolation goes on with lower maxrate settings, but this is the only difference and not one that shoudl cause any problems.
The lag *is* a Steam issue we believe.
The mailing list is the HLDS mailing list - we are already on it and monitor both this and the server section of the steam forums regularly.
