If I want to connect to a known server IP then, if I'm already in a server, it's easy to just type 'connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx' in console.
However, most of the time I'm not in a game. I'm in irc, HLSW, ED etc etc. So finally connecting to a server involves adding the IP to my favourites and then joining. Works OK but I tend to forget to remove the entry afterwards so my favs list gets a bit messy.
But I've just discovered this. (http://www.w00t.net/hlprot36-750a.exe)
Puts a shortcut on your desktop which, when double-clicked, allows you to paste an IP into it and connects you to the server. :D
If by any chance Steam isn't running it will Start it for you but you will then need to use the connect process again.
Damn useful me thinks.

You don't. You enter the password in the usual 'Steam' way.
Works perfectly. Cheers OB nice find :D
