i just bought a new mobo, i put in my cpu everything i need and nothing appears mt screen, no beeps from the sys speaker, so i assume the cpu has broke, but i test it in another board and thats not the case, this is the 3rd mobo that this has happened with,
1: jetway n2.... ultra / amd athlon 2600+
2: asus/ abit (cant remember) v17 / 1.7 p4
3: no name mobo / 1000 amd athlon
its starting to bug me lots now, its now my gfx card, i have used 4 in each, nor my monitor i have tried 7, i just cant figure it out, and until i do, i'm CSless and forced to used 450 and 640 mhz laptops. :(
When I upgraded my PC a while ago to the nforce2 board I'm using now, I installed it, aded all the bits etc, connected everything, turned it on, and.... nothing.
Nothing would happen at all, no beeps, no starting fans, the LED indicator thing on the motherboard wasn't telling me anything either.
In the end I was desperate and disconnected every single cable, added them one at a time to see if something weird was causing the problem. Sure enough, it was the USB header cabe for the front of the case! Damn wire was stopping the PC working!
If it doesn't power up at all then as Bob said, it is usually something miswired or not properly connected. Strip out all the bits, disconnect the optional USBs etc, put in just the gfx card and try from there.
TL.
Yeah, a good starting point is putting in the CPU, HSF obviously, RAM then the graphics card. Once you've done that connect the power supply and try getting it to turn on. Could be there's a short circuit somewhere, that'd stop the power supply from working right.
if all else fails make shure that you have little washers between the mounthing screws and the mobo, its worth as try in desperation could be causing a short curcuit
