What a huge question, but basically, Sadako got me thinking about old games and their good points, sooooo.....what would be in it..
I'm gonna assume 1st person, as that's what I like, I'd like an open sense of play, a bit like Farcry, the scale of the background and apparent choice of how to get to point B I enjoyed.
So, what else, aspects of other games would you put in?
Realism!
You should not be able to shoot through rocks and stone walls!
You should not be able to jump off a 30 foot high swing bridge into 1 foot of water without breaking both legs!
3D voice so you get a sense of direction for team mates who speak (I think UT2004 has this).
You should not be able to run at 20 mph with full battle kit!
Being hit by two rounds from any weapon should stop you from leaping around like a monkey with its bum on fire!
Built in voice comms - teamspeak not required.
Multiplayer should be team and objective based, not a fragfest!
Oh and the skins should not make my bum look big :)
They already made it - it was called Manic Miner :)
No you tarts...not a load of individual things, something more tangible....COunterstrike, a bomb defuse job over a large scale?
A true free roaming MMMMOROROOGG like galaxies, but plays like HL2, no goals just fun and real?
To me the best yet is Far Cry..
How about........................Far Cry?
Yep, Far Cry was good, but it was too linear..I fancy far cry in a town....gta fps would be nice
ok complete freedom! Gangster like online community with a 24/7 3d world ind of like Mafia but tons better with you usuing tactics to kill ur oppositon and certain gangs owning parts of the towns!
Yeah, I was thinking that, but don't you have to have a goal? Wouldn't it get boring?
You could have two sides fighting for the town the one that captures it/wipes out the other team wins. As an extra have the residents form their own resistance and undermine both other teams.

Yes, and call it something like Jewish\Palestinian Conflict part Deux   :D
.....oh and of course not forgetting the winners get to rape and pillage :dribble: :dribble: :dribble: :dribble:
Games are getting far to complex these days, at least for ppl new to gaming. I suppose hardcore gamesin or ppl who just been playing gaems for years need more complex games to keep them interested.
Need some nice and simple games I can play with the girlfirend...
atomic bomberman was ace fun with 4 players around a keyboard :)
anyway, back to the topic.
Realistic body damage effects. Ie. u get shot in the head u see brains fly everywhere. Shotgun to the arm... no more arm. Chainsaw to the waidt u fall in half. This all applies to your enemys more so :D
Good use of physics. all the ragdoll stuff, with added stuff so that if u fall from a great height onto something hard u gonna go splat. If you fall and hit loads of pipes u bruise and body parts break andfall off :D
Also some sort of landscape/world altering engine, so that if u shoot a tree leaves fall off branches break etc.. maybe it will even fall down. Big exploisions will destroy buildings put big holes in the landscape etc.
Thats all from me for now :)
Thats what soldner was supposed to do wasn't it? Deformable landscapes, as did Killzone? anyone?
See I think the only way you could do it would be have a huge campaign, ww2 for example, with a load of AI, so any trying to sneak around the back after days of crawling, you'd get killed straight off, kinda forcing you to try and do things properly.
That or scale it so that one bloke killing the odd soldier here and there doesn't affect the campaign.
ww2 stly of game where the AI was that good the game coud complete it self if u decided to hide for the duration of the war... ok not much fun if u sat it out but the clever u are the more impact you could have on the outcome.
You shoot lots of generals gonna weaken the tactical strength of the enemy. You blow up a few ammo depos the enemy will need to retreat when they run out of ammo. You help hold a particular trench line and stop reinforments reaching another battle.
Probably too complex for anyone to program. But it might be an interesting experiment.
