Title: Acidman suggestions
Post by: albert on July 24, 2004, 11:02:14 AM
I know you've put a lto of effort into the avail pages and they are looking great. I have a few more suggestions that may make slecting maps easier when challenging.

1) I was trying to look and see which maps we are better on, for wins, under reults all, it would be good to list the map we played on that summary page.
2) Allow us to search based on map and see who we played on a particular map.

I was just pondering if we have a bad recor of Aztec or Dust. I think average for Aztec and pretty good for Dust.

You have to be real careful here, I think the idea is good, but you need to assess the strength of the oppo and the team fielded when trying to figure out which maps we are best on.  We had a discussion about this a while back and looked at weighted rankings etc, but at the end of the day we concluded that whilst we could give the data, it would be impossible to interpret in any meaningful way.

Anyone any thoughts?

I see what you mean. It's vital we look at the oppositions favoured maps, normally the only ones they will play and then select a map based on what they are worst at and what we are better at.

The what we are better at bit obviously depends on how much better we are compared to those we've beaten but also the number of times palyed. Aztec is a wierd one that I always ponder over as we have had some fantastic matches on it but some real disasters so it's always tricky to make the decision to challenge on it. Also most of the calns who limit the maps they play are not only better on their selected favourites but can be rubbish on other maps and aztec is not as popular as dust1/2, inferno etc..

Hmmmm. There's a problem with locales. The server thinks it's in the USA even though I've told it it's in Manchester.

For now, enter ambiguous dates in mm/dd/yyyy format. Non-ambiguous dates are OK.

I've tried everything I know to get the server to behave as a UK based one should.

I give up ... for now.

I've installed a simple date-picker to insert USA style dates into the database for now.
