and this shud be 1 of my last topics regarding my new PC, where do i get a cpu fan (if i dnt get water cooling) that fits the new P4 socket?
ps. any1 recomend a site, or make of ram that i can get 1 gig (2 sticks) of DDR 400 from ?
Have a word with Norm for the RAM, I am sure he will post something here to give you a price. Otherwise have a look at places like
//www.overclockers.co.uk
//www.ebuyer.co.uk
//www.cpucity.co.uk
//www.scan.co.uk
//www.komplett.co.uk
//www.dabs.co.uk
//www.shop4memory.com
etc

found some ebuyer value 1024 meg ddr 400, for 104 pounds, is it as good as say samsung or crucial ?
Iti s highly unlikely to be as good. As far as I am concerned, RAM is one of the few places where you need to make sure you buy quality product, not cheapest.

although many mags do state and reviews say that crucial's cheapest ddr400 ram is the best on the market! This is old info tho and may not be up to date! Tl may be right at present ;)
I should say go for VDATA that is very very good ram. We use it very much at my work because the rest is just crap.
how much is good ram?
i can get 1 gig kingston ddr400 or 512 DDR2 533? which it worth ?
Dont buy cheap,buy quality,makes a huge difference to your systems stabilty,OCZ(major league exspensive) but bullet proof,corsair,munchkin or plain old twinmos which is very stable for non oc machines.
XTPC prices from £110-£210 for 1 gig dc kits

u think i shud get corsiar DDR2 then?
currently what i'm getting is this
gigabyte mobo - ddr2, pci-e, socket 775
2.8, 1 meg cache socket 775
dual seagate barricuda's 80 gig in raid
gigabyte ati radeon X600XT 128 pci-e
512 ddr2 PC4300 corsair
now all i need is a case, any recomendations :) i quite like thermaltake Xaser 2000, with it's 7 sys fans but i dunno how it performs, any1 know a great case for about £80 or less :D
Get a Chieftec Case, preferable the Dragon series, fantastic case, use one myself. Yours for under £60 if you look around.
As for RAM I use Geil to great advantage with no problems :)
i'm going for get 512 ddr2 pc4300 crucial for about £120, as for the case i think i'm going either the dragon or the thermal take.. not decided yet :)
only got 4 days to decide :(
Do you need PC4300 or can you go trade down to 512MB/1GB of slightly slower RAM?
If you aren't planning to use the full speed of PC4300 then why pay the premium it carries, spend the saved money on another bit of the system.

i want to try out ddr2, and i think the only frequency of that is 533, i dnt mind spending the extra, this pc is going to last me for a long time i hope :)
