Title: downloading MS updates...
Post by: suicidal_monkey on August 04, 2004, 03:41:54 PM
Assuming I want to re-format and reinstall windows, but would rather not have to connect to the internet and wait for hours while my OS downloads all the updates it needs...

Can I download MS updates, patches, etc and burn them to a CD or something? Is there a good way to find out which ones I'd need? It's early release XPpro, definitely pre-SP1. Do the service packs contain all previous updates? That'd save a LOT of hassle trying to find out which updates I actually need...

Get SP1 which has most of them the the only stuff you then need is quite often included in the "rollup" packages so you may not have too much to wait for. If you wait another few weeks then SP2 should be out as well :)

how long is "another few weeks" though? Guess I will survive that long while my system gets progressively messier! :eyebrow:
