I just bought CS:CZ and loaded it onto my PC. I saw it placed a 'Play online using Steam' icon on my desktop. I clicked on it and started going through the setup. I then thought 'but i've already got steam why would I want to re-install it?'. So stopped the install, before the commit. I then went into my good old Steam and registered a product I already own and it recognised my CD key, which was nice.
It is now downloading a whole mess of stuff and it's been doing so all 'kin' day!!
Have I missed out a vital step and so Steam is completely re-installing CS:CZ without bothering to look to see if i've already got it installed?
It's what it does, we've all been thru' it (well nearly all)
Yep - I started my update around 5:30, and it's looking like it'll finish around 2am. Did you manage to get it to copy the files from the CZ install into Steam though? If not you might want to do that, else you'll be downloading a full CZ.
yeah it will do that.
And if you are lucky also some updates <_<
I've mentioned this elsewhere. Assuming you have loaded Deleted Scenes Steam sometimes ignores this and downloads all the files from the Internet (over a gig). This may be your problem.
The reason is well documented, basically Valve couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.
took two days to fully download everything new again! It takes time but i am not usre if it is worth it as we have the same again when new updates come out!
Just over an hour to download Steam, CS 1.6 and CZ - I've never had any problem!
I am still waiting, waiting and waiting for it to finish........... ;)

Yet again you make little sense. The updates are generally small and assuming the steam network can handle it take very little time to download. Its only after a complete install/reinstall that you have to download all the updates at once to get your version up to the level that steam is currently running at. The largest one recently was the upgrade of CZ to version 1.2 I think.
Sn00ks, if you run the play online using steam thing it copies the relevent files from the CZ install into your steam directory. Things like conditionzero.cfg and creats the directory structure needed etc etc. Whereas if you stopped it and do it from within steam it has to download the lot plus all the updates.
