From an idea by TL in the Best 5 Games Ever (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7248) thread:
What was the the one thing in a single particular game that really blew you away - was it AI, graphics, location, whatever? One game, one thing?
For me it was the original Tomb Raider. There was a level where you arrived in an underground cavern on top of a Sphinx's head and it was the most amazingly huge level I had ever seen in a game. Just awesome looking around what appeared to be a vast sprawling cavern.
Damn forgot about Tomb Raider.
That was by far the best game i have played yet... the rest in the line were no where near.
And yes BB that was superb.
D day landings in MOHAA that was superb!
Y'know, scratch that. I'm sure there are better ones. *ponders*
Serious Sam's outdoor Egyptian-style locations were fantastic.
(Bugger - forgot about SS in my list)
And the first time I walked on the beach in Far Cry - wonderful.
Comanche 3. I've played the whole game untill the end.
For the rest the first Carmageddon, me, my twinbro and a m8 with chips and all and having the time of our live.
Gameplay:
Crash Team Racing--
PS
JAS's house
Me, MAD and JAS
Lots of Drink
Lots of Food
6 Hours one track
Face hurt so much through laughter.

bust a move
oh yeh ........and me feeding the roses outside .....
must have been a bad can !!!!!!
grrrr great days !!
Bust-a-move.....drunk, seeing your mate about to drop a huge chain on you, only to just beat him to it..fantastic...
Great Game..... Strangely easier the more you drink :D
Tough one. Return to castle wolfenstein was really good. The mood was superb and the graphics at the time outstanding. Remeber the graveyard and going into that tomb ... scary. But I must say that it must be the old UT for the first online gaming experience for me. Even though it was only 56K, it was magic. I was hooked on online gaming ever since.

Aye...that was the first proper PC game i ever played and got hooked.
Morpheus....sniper...... I could have fun on that map for hours.
It was superb to see it brought back for UT2004.
Links 486.
Yeh seriously.. I had an Amiga at the time with some great games: Elite, Cannon fodder ... But the Desktop manager at work had put a copy of Links 486 on one of the new fangled DX's, it looked great and played even better. I spent many a lunch time playing it and it made me buy my first PC (about £2000 worth at the time). Oh how things have moved on, but I've never been as blown away by a game since.
Resident Evil on the Playstation.
Hammy voice acting aside, when played in a dark room with the sound up, this game had the ability to make you physically jump in your seat when something ambushed you. Set in a creepy manor house with loads of zombies and other nasties, this game had atmosphere like nothing else I've played since.
Civilisation: Reducing your last opponents city to a single defending unit, found out by sending spies in.
When there's only one poor sod left holding a pitchfork attempting to repulse bombers, tanks, mechanised infantry and mobile artillery, I drop a nuke down his throat. Game Over.
Mercenary on the Amiga was cool too. Find the block of cheese and find out it's one of the best flying machines available.
Special mention for the Kick Off 2 tournaments at university, except the cheating B******* who dive over you outstretched leg for a penalty

LOL, totally agree.
Civilisation cost me a huge part of my early courting days.
Also Warcraft II, sounds (http://justice.loyola.edu/~mcoffey/ce/war2/Trpissd3.wav) were xlnt (http://justice.loyola.edu/~mcoffey/ce/war2/Owhat5.wav)
The huge stone doors slamming shut behind Laura at the beginning of the Azetc Level on Tomb Raider 1
The metal pipe collapsing from the ceiling on the opening level of AvP2
Opening up with the flame thrower for the first time on Syndicate
The Moscow river crossing on Call of Duty
Opening credits sequence on Half-Life where you watch from the monorail and see the working (or non workings) of the Balck Mesa Facility
Seige of Accra in Medieval Total War
For sillyness Marble madness on the megadrive during a huge session with about six mates. Absolute quality!
The game that got me the most was Doom I played over thinnet coax on 4 486s. Usually spent several hours getting the pcs to talk to each other and then played all night or until we passed out. Awesome fun. This was closely followed by Doom II when that came out.
I'm gonna go out on a limb...
The opening of Doom 3, the active background characters, the stepping on the Mars surface, the voices in corridors.
Crap game though.
