Title: CPU not recognised?
Post by: Dingo on August 28, 2004, 03:00:22 PM
Can anybody enlighten me as to why a cpu would not be recognised?

Bought an XP2500 and put it in a Epox 8KRDA mobo but it is showing as unrecognised and purports to be a 1Gig chip  ....thought these were nearer 1.8Ghz?

FSB is set at 166, memory is pc2700, mobo supports 333fsb

My Barton XP-M 2500+ is recognised as a Duron weirdly enough.  Using it in an Epox 8RDA+.  Weird really, great CPU in a great motherboard.

I can tell ya it doesn't perform like a Duron ;)

Did the clock and is now running at 166 x 12.5 giving me a whopping 2.09 Ghz ....not bad for £38 :dribble:  :dribble:

Sweet :)

I got some rather nice RAM and took up my FSB instead.
