Title: LCD Monitor - 8ms response time!
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 03, 2004, 07:57:45 AM
BenQ have announced the launch of their LCD panel FP71E+ this month (September).  It is a 17-inch LCD monitor with an 8ms response time!  Viewsonic are following up with their own 8ms response time 17" LCD in October.

Both companies project the 8ms models will quickly represent the dominant portion of their 2005 sales and have already announced the wind down in production and phasing out of their 25ms panels during early 2005.

ViewSonic: LCD monitor 2004 product mix
Response time (ms)  September  4Q
16ms  80%  55%
12ms  20%  30%
8ms    -       15%

BenQ: LCD monitor 2004 product mix
Response time (ms)  4Q
16ms  65%
12ms  30%
Others (8ms and 25ms*)  5%

*To be phased out in 2005

I have to say I am looking forward to an LCD panel running that kind of response and 1600x1200 that is affordable............

I'd finally ditch my 21" monster and give myself enough space back on my desk to hold a five a side football match

I think 16ms looks perfectly fine.  I'm sure I'd have to compare to an 8ms one to tell any difference.  Even then I doubt I'll get one, this one alone cost me £300! :)
