i get this error everytime i load up steam and i can no longer play any games as steam will not load! Any ideas of what it could be

Suggest you have a look in the steam forums using malloc as the search criteria. Haven't seen that one before. Have you tried all the normal fixes (blob file etc)?

Suggest you try killing of running software to see if something else is causing the problem. Temporarily stopn anything running in your system tray (AV etc) but remember to reboot once you have found out which item causes the error
You could also try using the steam support and help tool here. (http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/entry.php) I used this when I had a problem and was very suprised by how prompt they were at getting back to me.
