Title: ATI Catalyst 4.9 Drivers Out
Post by: Cadaver on September 10, 2004, 10:24:24 AM
For the compulsive tweakers in the community: Catalyst 4.9 Drivers for XP/2000 available from here (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html).  Release notes for this driver set are here (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/Catalyst_49_release_notes.html).

Supposed to give a nice performance increase in Doom3 if anyone has an X800 XT card.  That and all other cards also get a performance boost to UT2004.

ATI have decided to ditch their familiar Control Panel with these drivers, and have plumped for something they now call their Control Center.  You will require Microsoft's .NET Framework Version 1.1 (get it from Windows Update if you don't have it already) to be installed, otherwise the new Control Center won't work.

Haven't played with these yet, so can't comment on 'em.

You dont have to have the control centre by the look of it... (see ATI downloads page)

I've installed it and it's not much different from the old system. Just a bit more sexy looking, skinable and with some extra bits and bobs. Works well enough though.  :)
