I can't even begin to describe how great this film was. So I won't :)

I'd have to agree. I watched this film a couple of weeks ago ( was supposed to have watched i.Robot but got times mixed up :eyebrow: ) and thought it was a great follow on from Bourne Identity. The only bad point was that the camera shake was overdone slightly in places (car chase and fight), made me feel like throwing up.

It was clever but i feel i, robot was better save ur money is my opinion on this film :(

The original Bourne film, was in my opinion, fantastic. A great action flick, back to basics Bond, with a likeable lead and some good plot.
I've got the trilogy of books but not read them yet, is it worth it?
The books are well worth the read (got them myself), if a little dated - the original Jason Bourne was sent to capture/kill Carlos the Jackal.
The first film took the basis of the story line and used that to excellent effect, with an interesting change over the intended target. Haven't seen the second film yet, so can't comment on that.

Yup. The books are great and way better than the movies. Tbh I think the first Bourne Identity starring Richard Chamberlain was much better even though it is a TV-movie.

The 'new' with Matt Damon is too much action and less brain if you have the books as starting point. I haven't seen the Bourne Supremacy yet.
The books are fantastic, but bear little relation to the films. They are fairly old now, but I don't think they've dated too badly, considering they're c.15 years old.
I thought that the first film was fantastic. Yes, Sadako, there is a lot of action and hectic pace, but there's a good plot, Damon is always believable, Brian Cox plays it perfectly, the pacing is very good throughout, and you can buy into just about everything he does. None of it goes OTT imo, which is where Bond has fallen down in the last couple of films.
Bear in mind that they couldn't really remake the books given their setting and time period (Hong Kong is now part of China, Carlos the Jackal is locked up, etc...), and the books are very weighty. I would argue that if you stuck too close to the source you'd end up with something more like a film of a John Le Carre novel, which Bourne never pretends to be.
This is what James Bond should be aspiring to - do away with all the crap ice palaces, invisible cars, and special fx, and start making decent spy thrillers again.

The only thing I had trouble accepting is Matt Damons boyish look. As I remember from the books the character is a bit older. Other than that it was an ok action flick.

I totally agree! I'm so tired of the new James Bond films, they're all about boring car chases, new BMW's and big explosives.
