"What Is It?
What is Ogg Vorbis?
Ogg Vorbis is a new audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats. It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented.
What do all the names mean?
Ogg
Ogg is the name of Xiph.org's container format for audio, video, and metadata.
Vorbis
Vorbis is the name of a specific audio compression scheme that's designed to be contained in Ogg. Note that other formats are capable of being embedded in Ogg such as FLAC and Speex.
Where do the names come from? What does the logo mean?
Xiph.org has a page explaining the sources and meanings of the names and logos."
here is an addy with loads of free .ogg players

Don't know if it was in either of those links (too lazy to check) but Winamp 5 can play ogg files (I think earlier versions can with the aid of plugins).
:) Cheers matey! :D
Ogg Vorbis sounds better than mp3 for small file sizes/ higher compression. I cant tell the difference for bigger files.
Heres an ogg file at highest compression. Its a few minutes long(i think) and under a 1 meg in size. Probably not a very good example. It was origionally a midi file

CDex can rip to Ogg Vorbis as standard I think.
Theres a direct show filter somewhere you can download so you can listen to ogg files in windows media player. Last time I used it it was a bit buggy though.
This is it I think: http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm (http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm) use at your own risk :)
