Anyone got a solution to the potential problem of a Charlie Company member sharing their SteamID with an Alpha Company member? (ie Doris and Hippy)
And the reason we got confused with his email was because he sent the email from the account that Hippy used to register with us, not the one Doris used.
Anyone see a pattern here?

What problems do you foresee, TL? It would certainly be a problem if they both got into Charlie.
I would've thought the main problem would be between Hippy and Doris over 'turns'.
Hippy - "C'mon Doris, it's my turn to play."
Doris - "But I got a match in ten minutes."
Excellent player, mature attitude, nice legs. No scratch that last bit - he's a good player and that's enough for me :)
It isn't a big problem in my eyes.......there are far worse within Charlie.
It would be a big problem if hippy is an TANGO but he appears to be a decent chap aswell.
We could all let someone else use our PC without anyone else knowing, i think we have to place some trust in the young one.

Believe me I have no concerns with Doris at all. I think he'd be a great Charlie Company member, but I do have an ill-defined feeling at the back of my mind about having a Charlie Company member who shares his SteamID with someone else. I have no defendable reason for feeling uncomfortable with it, I just do.
I get worried when emails fly around from incorrect sender addresses without names on and look at the potential for something done by person A to be attributed to Charlie Company member B. This affects dMw's good name.
I get worried when we send FTP account information to Charlie Company members and it goes to an email address that is used by multiple people some of whom are not even Bravo Company members.
I get worried by the most common excuse proferred when caught: "it was my brother on my PC".
I get worried about an awkward clan who take a brief look on our website and discover two players with the same SteamID and who then shout 'merc'.
Some of these are highly unlikely I know, but not impossible.
Others are common.
Some have already happened.
Having a Charlie Company member who shares SteamIDs and email addresses is symptamtic of potential problems and therefore I do not believe it to be acceptable. The argument that 'anyone could use my PC' is a fair one but irrelevant as it is not something that ED or other leagues or clans could test or challenge without knocking on your door mid-match and asking for ID.
If we accept a Bravo member to Charlie Company without their own unique SteamID we are setting a precedent. I do not have these concerns about Doris and I do nto know Hippy well enough to make a comment, but I would prefer that precedent not to be set here and now.
I feel that a condition of Charlie Company membership should be that you use your own unique SteamID. And if you're wondering, I voted 'yes' for Doris, but I would like him to register a unique steamid and to use the right damn email address and not the one registered to Hippy!!!

Fair points. If necessary I should have a spare HL key if he needs to register another copy. If he is going to join Charlie he can have it as a present if he promises to sort things out :)
Did we have the same issue with Bravo ?
I remember Trinity and Zedos using the same PC .......I think the only concern we have is if (in time) they become both charlie....ED rules ect
For Charle I agree 2 people cant join using the same ID, but i would not stop a prospect from joining due to his Bro enjoying a game on the hook
If in time Hippy feels the need and meets the standard for Charlie then we would have to enforce some standard ... :blink:
I have less of a problem with someone sharing a SteamID and one or both of them being in Alpha or Bravo, but when one of them joins Charlie you have a problem. I have to say that I still prefer people to have one steamid and one email per person - we are meant to be a private and verified membership - it is difficult to run a verified membership when several people share the same steamid and email address :(

I think Doris would be a good Charlie member, BUT he would need to use a unique SteamID *and* his own email address!!

I hadn't really thought about it untill TL posted, and it Sounds a reasonable request for membership into charlie to have
your own steam id/email addy.

Well BB had a spare HL key he was willing to offer, so that side of it is easy - Doris just needs to remember to log out of steam each time and his key and our reputation will be safe.
As for the email addie, he probably already has one, if not it is not too difficult to set one up. I don't mind who has the new key, but as it is a totally clean new key then maybe Doris would like it?

Can I suggest then that...
1. We amend the Charlie criteria to include the need to have unique SteamIDs and contact email address.
2. We ask Doris to provide proof that both these requirements have been met before processing his request.

Yup I got HL Generations which gave me and HL and a CS key.
I've only ever used the CS key
if he wants it then consider it his.
