Well, to cut a long story short I've broken my motherboard. It switches in but locks up just after telling me my CPU speed and otal memory. I can't even get to press Delete to go into the BIOS, or get to any boot options of any kind.
Think it had something to do with a bad flash I did the day before. Regardless I'm not too amused though <_<
So, I've decided to order myself a few new parts.
Athlon 64 3200+ 90mn Winchester CPU
Abit AV8 VIA K8T800 Pro Motherboard
Could anyone with experience tell me, do you think these are gonna be fast at all? I'm not totally into the whole speed of 64 processors yet. The Barton CPU I have at the moment runs at 3200+ speed at 2.3GHz, but will the 64 chip still be faster, even though it runs at only like 2GHz or something?
Cheers guys.
Bob from rigs I have built there seems to be a slight gain in performance with the 64, not until 64 bit os is used will the full potential of these chips be realised.
my 2 cents :)

Cheers Norm :)
I've heard that the 939 64's have a memory controller built into the chip for dual channel memory support. Does anyone know whether this offers much of a performance increase?
And has anyone tried the demo of the 64 bit Windows OS?
Doesnt the 64 differ from the 32 by that it can say do a process then half way through that start another one? In the case doubling the productivity and quickness/speed?
I upgraded to exactly the same CPU from an old XP 2100+ and it flies, even on my (getting on a bit) 9700 Pro :)
