Title: Music Player / Walkman
Post by: ChimpBoy on November 15, 2004, 09:26:42 PM
Looking for a decent music player (walkman-type) that I can easily connect to my PC and copy my WMA files onto (I have a lot of my cds transferred onto my PC).

I don't think IPOD will play WMA, so that's out.  Any ideas?

Not sure if iPod supports wma, but then again we should all be moving on to mp4/aac by now!

Some of the iRiver players support wma (not all though...)

Creative Jukebox Zen probably supports it.

Archos?

The Samsung YH-920 supports wma's.
I bought  Mrs Armitage One for her birthday and she loves it. Dixon's has it on sale at the moment for £180.

The Sony Network Walkmans do, at least most of them do. Pretty costly, but good stuff. They look funky as well

I don't think IPOD will play WMA

Quote"The company will be working with Apple to add support for Microsoft's superior Windows Media Audio (WMA) format to the iPod by mid-year."

Soon it will :)

my Samsung YH920 went back to the shops today as the quoted battery life of 12-9 hours depending what you read was closer to 3

and due to the fact i had filled the 20 gig already i have gone for the i-pod   and your right it dose not support wma's but it automatically converts them to AAC files for transfer. So don't let the wma issue worry you.

it also supports firewire as well as usb2
