Its Great. And its for a good cause. Buy It! Now! :D
Sorry, but I disagree - I think its pants.
It starts well, but very quickly gets worse until the end where its just bloody awful. I think they should have just re-released the original.
Aren't they trying to raise more money for Sudan, which is where the first Band Aid came in....
I'm not a big fan of it, but I will buy it. I can't understand why anyone could justify not spending the price of a couple of pints when it's to a good cause.
Floodgates now open.l
agree with everyone at some point.
its crap
its a good cause

Sorry twig, your wrong. Crap is the word

No, the plastic's been used anyway, would be better to buy the CD, keep it for amusement value, then put the box in the recycling centre. :P
Well, I liked it. But then I am a bit younger than some of y'all ;) and I think I have wildly different music tastes from pretty much everyone else here. :D

Wonderful, a nice balanced, well founded world view. Gotta love it...
Well I won't be buying it either.
Yes there is indeed much suffering going on around the world, were told that our donation can aleviat (sorry borrowed computer and no spell checker) this suffering but I'm afraid, I have to agree with VV on this that, there is a vast amount that is contributed that never reaches the needy due to the corruption and greed of new found capatalism. Please don't take me for a heartless b'stard for I am part pinko lebarlist leftism (with a little exteme right thrown in) and think that everyone has the right to lead a happy smiley life (sigh). Whilst being very sceptical of any charity (especialy "third world") I am happy to donate to local charities that not only provide help that is needed but is serously underfunded by a government that is supposed to be caring. I would like therefore to bring your attention to, www.rainbowtrust.org.uk (http://www.rainbowtrust.org.uk) forget about the media induced hype about a bunch of talentless "celebrities" and donate to something that can really make a differance.
I've been pondering for a couple of days whether I should put my two penn'orth in. Thanks Zok, you did it for me.(although I'm probably a little further right than you) It IS a well known fact, the majority of Band Aid money never got the the people it was supposed to help. It most likely went into Swiss bank accounts and to the purchasing of yet more arms. Besides that, it's a seriously crap record!
It's also worth noting the problems in the Sudan were created by a political problem rather than an environmental one (another civil war). Deal with the politics and it would go a very long way to dealing with the humanitarian issues. The Sudan is now more or less elf sufficient. It's recent internal agricultural developments and oil producing program now mean it creates a trade surplus for the first time in it's history.
This smacks of a charitable event looking for a worthy cause rather than the other way round :(

They'll be OK for Christmas then :lmfao:
Clearly not. There's a real humanitarian disaster happening. Sadly it's one we all saw coming and one we chose to do nothing much about. Had we collectively (public and government) been a bit more interested in the problems, then we could have put a lot more pressure on the Sudanese government. This would have ensured the war in Dafur would have had nothing like the effect on the population that it it did. In turn this would have meant we wouldn't have felt compelled to release an aweful song in order to raise some cash for them, that they may in fact never see.
Deal with real problems with real action? Or wait for it all to fall off the rails and then release a song?
Maybe in 1984 we were all a bit more innocent and a bit more naive? Today, just making token gestures doesn't cut it. The people of the Sudan have prooved they are quite capiable of looking after themselves and don't need our handouts. What they need now is short term humanitarian aid along side direct action to resolve the carnage in Dafur.
IMHO
FFS - buy the effing record.
Yes it's awful and not a patch on the original, and yes charity does begin at home, but get a grip.
Interesting to note if those who knock it and say they're giving it to local charities actually follow up on that promise <_< Not aimed at anyone in particular, but it's such a well worn cop-out.
The government have waived the tax on it, and if only one of my pounds gets through to help someone then job done. I won't miss the money, and no-one on here will either.
Yes there are many deep seated problems in this world that charity records won't help, but get some perspective for christs sake and have a heart.
I've not heard a single shred of an argument on here that can absolve you from spending less than two pints on a charity record. Just because you say things you think are clever doesn't make them so <_<
That us put to rights then. :eyebrow:
And who the Hell do you think you are to tell ME how to spend MY money.
I don't give a Toss for your views on what is right or wrong but FFS don't EVER tell ME what to do with MY money AGAIN.
For me the song sucks end of story.
I give to charities on a monthly basis on what I decide so no cop out im just not going to.
:withstupid:
Everyone should be free to decide what charities they want to give to and what causes they feel need THEIR money. It's a personal choice that no-one should be bullied into.
nothing worse then having someone call at your door asking for some money to save poor timmy from a almost certain death. How can u say no.
I think its unreasonable to ask for money while putting on the guilt trip, but fairly acceptable to explain the cause and let them decide what/where/when/whether to donate in there own time.
This charity will get a shit load of money, there are plenty more out there that need the funding and are maybe closer to home and hearts.
Can I bully you all into donating to my charity 'Cash for My Kidz appeal'?
//www.savethulsaskidz.gov.crap :D

And to be honest my comments didn't suggest not buying the CD, just that it's a crap record and a saddness as we all saw this coming and did bugger all about it. Buying a bloody record absolves no one from collective responsibilty. In fact it might add to the "I've bought a record so now my concience is apeased and I can forget all about it" brigade.
As Smitey says, we each do what we do to help our fellow man from giving bugger all to giving everything we have. What we don't do is preach to others about how much we give or to whom.
Fantastic - how ironic to get that as a first reply to my post. And I don't think I was preaching. What I did point out is that if you resent spending a couple of quid on a record that will do some good then you should have a pretty good look at yourself. If you're still happy with what you see then that's your perogative. Have a nice time in the pub tonight <_<
If you give to other charities then fine - that's your right and good on you. But it makes the fact you resent spending a couple of quid on this record all the more incredible in my eyes. I've given fairly consistently to the World Wildlife Fund over the years since I was a student because it's something I believe in. I could say bugger off to Live Aid and feel perfectly happy in that. You can't give everything to every charity you see, but we should all pity someone that lacks the empathy to give anything, no matter how small, to someone less fortunate than themselves.
I don't approve of charities employing and paying people to stand in the street asking for my money. That to me is hypocrisy. What I can see the benefit of is artists collectively coming together free of charge to record a charity song and the British government forgoing tax on the record in the name benefitting the less fortunate. Just as all the other efforts other charities make during the year is worth my attention, no matter how fleeting.
It doesn't absolve me of all sin if I buy the record, and I'm still a flawed person. What I do have is the ability to put myself in someone else's shoes and make the decision that I'm happy to give up a pittance so they might have a better life, if only for a day. That to me is worth the small price.
Personally Smite I have no problem with your position - but then I didn't launch a personal attack on you, did I <_<
i tell you wot u give me the money and i'll fly over there my self to give it to them...........via barbados...... :lmfao:
seriously tho a few million condoms would do them a world of good......
