I'm running it at 1280x1024 on my 9800Pro on the 4.10 drivers and I noticed a considerable slowdown when around water. :(

I've made the water reflections 'simple' and it's greatly improved :)

Gonna try the new drivers and see if I can get my 'real world' reflections back.

on my 9600 pro its chopppy in places. Usualy when the S$$t hits the fan and flamming barrels start to roll.

havent messed with settings cause im a little dissappointed at the graphics. (mainly down to my card, so im not complaining)

are there any tweak guids out yet?

I'm running at 1152 x 864 with all on full and vert sync on (runs smoother)

9800XT

Straight after a "loading" bar it locks up and goes jittery for about 1 second then its fine.

I play in 1024x768 on my 9800Pro (128Mb) and it runs very nice. Try going down in resolution.

:withstupid:

I only have a poor little fx5600, but it's coping very well at 800x600 and medium-type settings. the stress test managed a 65fps average (xp2400, 512 ddr)

See this site (http://tweakguides.com/) for some preliminary fixes for stuttering

I think also you should try a lower resolution - I am using 1024 x 768 with all settings on high and vertical synch turned off and its playing fine on my computer with its X800 card.

BTW, tried the beta drivers and can't see any difference!

My 6800LE breaks every time I try to play 3D games, just gives me a black screen and I have to do a cold boot to get the PC to work again.

So I popped my old 9600XT 128MB card back in and installed the beta drivers.

It's a little choppy at times, but I get anywhere from 30-120fps at 800x600 with AA on 2x.

1280 x 1024 on a 9800 AIO runs fine just needs a few secs to recover after the many saivng/load points

1280x960 full monty, smooth as silk. Loading takes a while but that's about it.
X800XT, Wait for vert synch,  4.11 drivers. Luverly!

As suggested, I've dropped down to 1024x768 and it's sweet as a nut. :)

Just finished the air boat bit - superb.:)

Yes I am taking it slowly ... I explore *everywhere*.

1024 x 768 on a 9800 Pro using Softmod 4.11 drivers and an AMD XP2800 CPU. Not a hint of a graphics problem  :)

For anyone experiencing sound stuttering, I hear that defragging helps a great deal with it. I'm defragging my games comp overnight - hopefully it will fix everything for me. The stuttering made some parts that should have been awesome somehow unfun.

I'm getting the sound stutter and I've ran a full defrag and still getting it  :(

Runs really smoothly for a few seconds then the stutter.  I think I may need a new HD because I have had some corruption creaping in recently and I can see the HD light come on in sync with the stutter.

ATI 9800 Pro
AMD XP 2700+
512MB Memory
2 x Maxtor 60GB HD's (striped to 120GB)

Looks like another rebuild on the way (wish I'd ordered the new HD before I started the reformat last week    )

Okay .. I've done a bunch more experimenting:

First: decompiling the sounds gcf makes no difference (I even noticed a slight increase in stuttering, if anything)

Second: it isn't just sound stutter - a lot of it is the game trying to load textures. Turning the texture detail from high to medium helped a lot, though I do miss the nice high-res textures on character models.
