What does it mean if you get the message "NTLDR is missing say at start up, i can still go into bios but anytime i try to get to boot from cd it say's that any suggestions?
Quick Google search brought this up...
Quote Short for NT Loader, a program loaded from the hard drive boot sector that displays the Microsoft Windows NT startup menu and helps Windows NT load.
Often a user will see the message "NTLDR is Missing" after attempting to install Windows 2000 or Windows XP, or upgrade a Windows 95-based or Windows 98-based computer to Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The message appears after the first reboot. This occurs only if Windows 95 or 98 has been installed on a drive with the FAT32 file system.
To correct the problem, the user must boot the computer with a Windows 95 or 98 Startup diskette or another bootable diskette with sys.com on it. Then, at the "A:\>" prompt, type "sys c:" and press "enter." A "System Transferred" prompt should appear and then the user must reboot the computer without the diskette.
surely the XP disk should fix that?
Boot off the CD and run the repair install?
Hmmm...
:withstupid:
Ive lost my xp disk been looking for it for hours :(
Sigh.....
My PC used to do that a lot. I used to have to leave it on the ntldr screen for about half an hour. Then reboot. My drive was dodgy..
Isn't that the new fangled way of saying "bad or missing command interpreter"
Its fixed now fdisked it put win(me) on it aint mine so i dont care and put it in a new case and it worked :)
NTLDR missing can occur if you change the hard drive configuration ...i.e. remove one that was installed at time of install........as i found to my cost once.
I always do the OS install with only 1 HD installed now and add others post install.........that way the NTLDR file is definitely on the OS disk and not one of the supplementary disks.

WinME? You were probably better off with the missing NTLDR file

Thats the way they wanted it shame i had to give them a mb, hd and a psu and a cd player plus all the cables, and all they had to buy was the cpu, memory and the case and now they think they own it greedy TANGO'S!
Now let's see shall we, 18 years at approximately £10,000 a year (Government estimates but some go as high as £30K) would mean that your parents have spent £180K on bringing you up
mb, hd and a psu and a cd player plus all the cables....which should at retail prices add up to around, erring on the generous side now, say £170
Now by my reckoning, and I've never been great at maths, your'e shy to the value of some £179,830........
If I were you I'd let them keep the pc and say no more about it!! <_< :D :D
