I am not having any luck with my computer at all!!
The geforce 6800LE 128MB card I ordered from overclockers.co.uk. I can't get it to work, so I've sent it back, and now I have to wait FIVE working days for them to process the RMA.
The broken Abit motherboard I ordered from Dabs. I've returned that, and I have to wait SEVEN days for the RAM on that.
The Tagan 480w power supply I ordered on Friday from aria.co.uk, I've just checked and they've delivered the supply to somewhere in KETTERING, NORTHAMPTIONSHIRE!! I don't even know where that is, I live on the Isle of Man! So I tried ringing them at 5:25pm to tell them what they'd done, and I get:
"We are sorry out lines are now closed, they are open from 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday".
So now you know, 5:25pm is OFFICIALLY after 5:30pm!
I'm reduced ro running my PC from an underpowered PSU on a geforce 2 32MB graphics card now. I'm so angry I'm gonna do some damage soon.....
OcUK are normally pretty quick with the RMA's. Can't say the same for dabs though, i've heard many different opinions on them :(
if the product has a manufacturers warranty that can be better. When my iiyama (from dabs) went pop after 3 or 4 days I rang them and they sent a guy out in a van to collect it and drop off a replacement monitor. Took them perhaps 3 days to get the replacement to me? Nice :)
I've known aria to be both quick and slow on RMAs. Still waiting to hear back about my gfs DVD player we sent back... <_<

The first (and only time!! :yell: :taz: ) I dealt with Aria they were a complete pile of Poo  .....took them in excess of 35 days for an RMA, always had an excuse for not sending it and and only sent replacement after I had set the Trading standards on them
NEVER AGAIN
They're all as bad as each other. They all do exactly what you want, until they sent you something faulty, or THEY do something wrong.
Then they all treat you like a piece of crap!

Never had that problem with Overclock.co.uk (note the spelling, not Overclocker(s) ) based in Slough
Prices not always as keen but the service has been excellent :D
speak of the devil...
Just got an email from aria saying the DVD replacement is being despatched :D ...to my OLD address <_< but a short sharp phonecall later which should have actually caught them in time to change the address...we'll soon see!
i always use scan or e-buyer. e-buyer are awful to deal with cos you cant speak to any1 but (touch wood) never had anything duff from them yet.
today i received an order from scan that included the wrong monitor (ordered silver/black got ivory/grey) so i phoned them today at 14:00 to tell them the bloke on the phone then said to me we will collect the wrong one tommorrow and deliver the right one at the same time. i know that scan sometimes arn't the cheapest but usually by a few pence or a coupla quid. i'll take good service every time over a so called saving with loads of hassle.
scan.co.uk
I ordered something from Scan a short while ago, delivery of £7.00. I thought excellent very reasonable.
THEN I got an e-mail saying because I live on the Isle of Man the P&P will be £27!
I was like WTF?! Why? Postage the the Isle of Man DOESN'T cost more than England!

They are //www.aria.co.uk ;)
Just got that site name to compete with overclockers :)
They also have //www.overclocker.co.uk !! Its such a cheap way of scaving customers from OcUK
Well, I've had to ring aria up TWICE every day this week, but they've told me the guy who DID receive my power supply rung them to ask why he had it, so aria are arranging for city link to pick up the package and deliver it to me instead.
Finally!
I'm kinda disappointed actually that the abuse levelled at the owners of Overclockers that used to reside at http://www.overcockers.co.uk/ (http://www.overcockers.co.uk/) has now been replaced with a "Redirecting you to a decent retailer..." redirect page, taking you to KustomPC.
I was going to buy something from KustomPC last week, but I found I could get a better product for cheaper at overclockers.co.uk!! Random but true...
Well, a few more developments.
I got an e-mail from overclockers.co.uk. they will exchange the 6800LE (btw, problem with the card is a memory problem, very common apparently). So I tell them I want a HIS 9800 Pro.
"Sorry sir out of stock, please choose another card."
Ok I'll go for the Powercolor 9800 Pro.
"Sorry this card is out of stock too."
So I've had to tell them I want an MSI 9800 Pro, not my first choice, has a huge heatsink covering the GPU and memory though. Failing that I guess it'll have to be the Connect3D 9800 Pro. Geez!
As for aria.co.uk. STILL not received my Tagan 480w PSU. So I ring them up this morning, 9am. Speak to some girl, tell her the problem.
"I'm affraid there is nothing on record here about your query, so I'll have to go and find out who was resolving your query, speak to them, and get somone to ring you back."
Fair enough. 4:30pm, no one has rung me back. So I ring aria again. Guy answers the phone, I explain the situation, and the phone call this morning.
"I think you were probably speaking to Leanne this morning. she handles all the correspondance with our couriers City Link. I'm affraid it's her you need to speak to and she's off now until tomorrow."
"But I spoke to her this morning and she told me she didn't know what was happening with my order and she needed to speak to someone else!"
"I'm sorry but she's the person you need to speak too."
Just BRILLIANT. Apparently I *need* to speak to someone who doesn't KNOW what the problem is. God damn, aria are definately filling their quota for having to employ mentally disabled staff!
Gonna ring them tomorrow and if they still "don't know" I'm going to tell them where they can shove their order. <_<
Right....
Overclockers have sent me the Connect3D 9800 Pro anyway now, only 9800 Pro they had left in stock at the time? I wonder why? Probably because it's crap! :)
As for aria, I rung them up yesterday, and STILL they wouldn't really help me, guy's excuse was "we're extremely busy at the moment and call backs can take a number of days."
My excuse was "Well I paid for this order 12 days ago, and I had to pay £11.95 for delivery. At that price I'd have expected something to have arrived by now. To be honest I'm not very happy at all, please can you cancel my order, I'm going to order the power supply from somewhere else"
And I *think* they have, at least the guy said they would, probably take another 12 days! :D
I've got nothing to add. I just came in to pat you on the shoulder and say "There, there never mind"

M'Lud, I rest my case :(
I'm a committed on-line shopper but......
Sadly there's an arguement here for buying from a high street retail outlet. Most towns have at least one PC hardware shop. You'll pay more for it (but suprisingly not all that much) and they may take longer to order it in.
But you don't part with your cash until it's in your mitts and you know exactly where to take it back and who to stand infront of demanding a resolution if it blows up. A few more quid maybe but often a lot less grief.
Tis a good point, just a bit of a shame there's no where to buy reasonable computer hardware on the Isle of Man. Plus for some reason companies are under the illusion that posting to the island costs more, when it doesn't. So I have to pay through the nose for that too.
On the up side I now have my 9800 PRo, installed and purring sweetly :)
