Title: Bandwidth Improvement
Post by: Stryker on December 11, 2002, 10:46:11 AM
It seems my previously mentioned bandwidth improvement will come to full fruition during Jan 2003.

Until then you may all hold ur breath and/or brace yourselves :-)

BTW, not seen many peeps moaning about latency since I changed traffic flow some weeks back.... if everything is ok then please feel free to let me know so know I'm on the right track :-)

The only time I get lag is when someone kills me. I mean, come on! It can't be because of anything else! It's lag!!

Seriously, I have yet to experience really serious lag on MH. There have even been times when the whole server has been disconnected, yet I'm fine and am able to run about and get lots of cheap kills :) Not sure why that is, but I think I'm the only one who uses an ISP that routes via the USA, so maybe that has something to do with it?

On the server a few nights ago I saw myself and at least two other people lag out and get disconnected, and myself and (I think) TL had CL_FlushEntityPackets once or twice.  Lots of packet loss during gameplay, too.

But apart from that one night, the Meat Hook has been pretty much lag-free for me.

Yeah, I'd echo what CiM just said.  Mostly the server has been good to me, but I had a CL_FlushEntityPackets a couple fo times the other night.  I have in the last week had a couple of nightmare ping experiences, but as they were real short term I guess they are related to my participation in the gang rape experience that BT call their '24/7 service'.

The only issue I have at the moment is with choke, even after adjusting rates etc I still seem to be suffering

If I had broadband I am sure that i wouldn;t have some of these problems...........Now why on earth a city (sorry, town) like Milton Keynes can't deliver broadband to someone who lives within 5 minutes of the city centre I do NOT know  :x

It appears that the ntl network is complete shite tonight. I'm getting huge packet loss from MH and Wireplay servers.

Anyone else having problems (it's 7pm BTW)?

I'm on ntl cable, having no trouble on any CS servers so far.  Or web, or email.  But then, I'm in Glasgow :)

I had a pretty laggy evening too, but it didn;t quite sound as bad as yours.....

I joined CoFR late evening to meet up with Albert, Sadako and Oldie, but the lag was bad.  Joined MH but had loss and ping goin up to 250-300ish at times  :(

I think the net just had a real bad night.... maybe somone dug up a couple of cables?

thats the prob guys, Linx (London Internet EXchange) has been a little too succesful for its own good.  Every fscker and his mutt routes through linx so if linx has a bad hair day the whole country feels it.
