im going to buy a new graphcs card with my x-mas bonus from work,
im looking to spend up to £150 and dont mind ordering online.
has any 1 got any reconmendation for me for what card is best? ati or nvidia?
the game i play the most is hl2 and css so its got to run them good,
but i spose anything is an upgrade from my crappy radeon 9200 :lmfao:
A 9800 radeon pro is about 140£ and a brilliant graphics card.
:withstupid: It's about the best there is for the money. Get one with a big fat blower attached to it and as many free games as you can find.
Agreed.
TL.
Also agreed, damn good card. I couldn't get one with an artic cooler on, so I'm going to buy one myself at a later date and install it myself.
9800 Pro rocks!!
Oh and btw for comparision, my Athlon 64 3200+ system with 1GB RAM scored 17000 on 3dMark2001se with an Nvidia 6800LE card, and 20000!!! with my new Radeon 9800 Pro. No comparison really!
ive been looking around and found this:

I'd stay away. I bought a 9600XT, and it's not even remotely as fast as a 9800 Pro. Seriously, not even slightly.
Absolutely agreed. Get the 9800Pro, it is WAY better than the 9600XT.
TL.
theres lots of different 9800pro's about e.g.:
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=5915 (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=5915)
or

or even
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=8087 (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=8087)
are they all good?
i want 2 make sure i get a good one this time and not end up with the same mistake as last time

I've heard very good things about the Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR.
I run a couple fo the Sapphire 9800Pro's in various machines and they have been very good. If you want a stock 9800Pro then go for the Sapphire, if you want VIVO capabilities (All In Wonder) then go for the Powercolor and pay the extra £40.

Must admit ill be selling my 9800AIW as soon as my x800xt comes :)
I got a 9800pro128mb,
ive just clocked it to run at an engine speed of 400mhz (as much as a nvidia 6800gt) and memory speed of 355mhz.
not a big jump from standard but i dont wanna melt it.
