Went to send off for my free copy. You need three things...
1) I need the voucher, yep got that.
2) I need the bit of packaging, yep got that.
3) I need the reciept....
What???? Yes I need the reciept. I haven't kept the pissing reciept, as I ordered it online, and it was part of the cardboard box which I threw away, me having bought the card so long ago. "Sorry sir, we need the reciept." So I dont even get the consolation of not having to pay for the game I waited so long for! Bloody TANGOers
Oooohhhh, it makes you mad.
So I am going to ahve to TANGO around with Steam in order to get my copy, which wont even work on this PC. Woooonderful...
You dont need your reciept.
There are a few posts on here regarding vouchers.
On your steam menu Click on browse games.
Register a product i already own.
Select the basic Halflife 2.
Follow the instructions....it will ask for your voucher number in that process somewhere.

Yeeeessssss. I know that I don't need the reciept to get it via Steam. But I dont want to download it onto this ailing machine, and then cut it to the requisite 101 CDs so that I can play it when I get my new machine next year... :(

It's actually only ~850Mb, so easy enough to write to a couple of discs.
Install all the games that you want
Right click on the steam icon click games then play games
Right click on one of your games click backup game files, then select those you wish backed up.
Then just follow the next button saying were you want to save the backup file on your hard drive.
The next option say's if you want to save it onto a cd or dvd, and therefore it will compress the file for you. Then just slap it on a disk.
Also put a basic steam client the one on their site load that in first followed by the cd and the rest is done for you :)
This can be put on any pc and all you need to do is log into it using your account, it saves so much time at the moment my steam folder is 9 Gb's :lmfao:

You can licencse it to your account at the moment and click on your games list, right click on any game select "backup game files". You can even backit up to a cd/dvd which i have then install it on your new pc :). All that you need to do before putting the cd in is to have a steam client installed a basic one.

Is there a thread about it how to do that?
Can you make one otherwise?
I'm going to back my stuff up soon aswell.
So when you want to reinstall you first need to install steam and then you can put in the CD and let it go?
Looks promising...
I didn't quite actually follow the bit with the basic Steam Client, but will def get onto that! Chars matey! :D

I think he just did! DA's medication must have run out because there seemed to be an unusual degree of grammar and coherent sentence structure ;)

Not entirely true. It is about 2.5 GB. If you buy it irl instead of via steam you get it on one DVD or 5 CDs.
You don't have to burn it to disk if you don't mind downloading everything again. As long as you can install the Steam client and login with the account that the game is registered against then it will give you all your games back (minus the settings of course)
I just backup my configs and leave it at that ;)
My complete backup runs to 5 gig. That's HL, HL2, CS, CZ, CSS, HLDM on about eight CD's. If you ahve a DVD recorder then you'd be laughing :)
