A platform update is available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:

Steam

Source MODs will now automatically appear in the games list

Improved startup process for Steam

Fixed crash when creating a backup that would span multiple DVDs

Fixed a bug that would unnecessarily validate Steam caches after a cache corruption

Fixed Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes and Codename Gordon failing to backup correctly

Fixed a bug where the message "the game files will be deleted and re-acquired" would repeat

Fixed offline mode failing after not connecting to Steam for more than a month

Half-Life 2

Optimization to the Steam filesystem to reduce game launch and level transition time

Source SDK

Simplified debug-launch process for MOD developers. MOD developers no longer need to place a config file in their directory

Added a registry key for MOD developers to use to locate a user's Steam installation located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam\SourceModInstallPath

Now the bad news ...

The update has screwed the majority of CS:S servers as it now totally disegards the command telling it which IP/Port to start on. Only those servers running on default IP settings are OK.

The CVAR used to tell the server how much start money to give players is being partially ignored as everyone now gets double the amount set by the CVAR.

Nice job VALVe.

Yeah, I went, or tried to went, on Boomer last night only to be disconnected because the thingummy was different to my whatsit.  :(  So I started my own game to take a look at Prodigy (Very nice! :) ) and noticed the generosity at start. These are pros?

And as for the new prodigy map ...

QuoteVery annoying bug that is spreading to every damn server that's running prodigy. You hide in the cabinets in spawn and other areas around the map and you are invulnerable to attack while you can kill anyone near you.

My servers run on 27015, 27016 and 27017. If I start CS:S on it's own it runs on 27015 instead of 27017. If I start the other two servers first so that 27015 and 27016 are not available to CS:S it takes 27017 correctly.

Jeez these guys are good. Don't they test bloody anything? Oh and it overwrote my mapcycle.txt file when CS:S updated and it also screwed up botchatter.db file.

Idiots!

We have released an update to the Source Dedicated server. To get this update run the hldsupdatetool.

This update fixes the +ip command line parameter not working. More details can be found here:

Also note that the correct syntax for specifying the ip and port to bind to for the server now is:

-port -ip

For example:
-port 27040 -ip 127.0.0.1

Note that +port and +ip will also work but shouldn't be used as their use is deprecated.

I am asking myself why?

Oh and port never worked for me. I had to use +hostport 27017 for CS:S to work on the port I wanted. +port 27017 didn't work

Cheers for th info OB this fixed the port problem I was having :D
