..but now everytime I join a server cs/cz my dvd draw starts an open draw, close draw read sequence. This continues throughout time on server,as soon as I disconnect it stops. <_< This has the effect of makeing me play with lagg spikes(although it doesnt show any),and my headphones have strange noises comeing through them. :eyebrow: It was ok today when I joined server with TL,Doris and company(even though the promptly left, must get different aftershave, hope santa brings me some :D ).Have I missed something obvious
I haven't got a clue what's up. However my copy has just starting playing a random MP3 file during startup  Bloody wierd.......
TL.

I can obsolutely positively guarantee that it is not a sound file from HL/HL2 or anything that Valve infected our PCs with. For example, one of the pieces I get to listen to is a midi file version of the 'Kyrie' from the sung Latin mass 'Missa L'Hora Passa' by Ludovico da Viadana. I know it is this because (i) I know it was my sister who recorded and sent me the midi file and (ii) I know the piece as I have been trying to learn the bass line as the choir I sing in will be singing it at Church this Christmas Eve at Midnight Mass. Valve would definitely *not* supply that!
This random music playing has occured to me once before and it seemed to cure itself after a few weeks. It did not return until a few days ago.
Anyone any other ideas as to what might be causing it?
TL.
if i have a music cd left in the drive it would start to play when cs started loading! dont know if it was ment to or if it still does...
I know this happens to Red, its scary but could be quite useful :lmfao:
Just noticed after TL mentioned mp3 file playing(assumeing its on your HD TL)that hd activity is way above normal, this will be causeing the lagg effect I assume. :(

That happened to me once. I ended up playing a whole map's worth of Billie Holiday, wondering what the hell was going on. ^^
Which I think, we can safely assume, proves that this is yet another aspect of steam that Valve have borked and not yet fixed.

Weird stuff going on guys, I suddenly hear the Xfiles tune!!! :lmfao:
Removeing ide from DVD player has alleviated problem, now atleast can play cs/cz till I find a resolution. :D

This has been happening to me since the days of Doom.
Never got to fix, just removed music CD.
I do not have a music CD in the drive at all. It has the CustomPC Benchmarking Utilities CD in there at the moment so the CD is not the source of any music.

I tried to find the post, but I just read that they disabled the CD check for those that bought the media. Wonder if it inadvertantly broke something else? I believe this was in the past two weeks that the change was made.
Ok,removeing audio cable from dvd has cured problem.I now have dvd and writer back and play cs/cz without lagg spikes and constant strange noise in my headphones. Sure I read somewhere there is an issue with audigy sound cards. <_<
Strange,its back again,never mind,unplug everything for tourney. :D
Funny thing happenend to me too.
As it plays whatever is inside the CD, and since my girlfriend always has Moby inside the PC, I got to know the first track as... a Loading music for CS :-)
Now I cannot listen to it without having my mind relate it to CS :eyebrow:

Allways when starting to join a server and inbetween maploads it comes up, first I thought, what's that? Then I was like, still got a cd in it. Ahwell, Just don't forget to put another CD in once in a while.
:D :D Found and cured the problem.Believe it or not a faulty 12v line
