Title: Prince of Persia
Post by: Benny on December 29, 2004, 11:58:54 AM
Good game, bit of a pain in the ass on the pc with the keyboard and the directions, but bearable.

Fighting remains bashing the left button and repeating a pattern depending on who you are fighting, but, it reminds of when Tomb Raider first came out, lots of running jumping, swinging, grabbing, shimmying etc. Fighting is secondary.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

I did the first one and it was a blast. So I'll probably have a crack at number two sometime soon.

Got it yesterday had about 1 hours worth of gaming. First thoughts
Very good , quite difficult and frustrating in some places with the jumping as the keyboard makes it quite difficult like Benny said. Other than that decent game ill definetely see it to the end

To be honest, i'm nowhere near as taken with this second offering than i was with Sands Of Time. The first game was bright, original and downright fun, this one, whilst moving in a darker, more mature way, just isn't as fun at all, and being the sequel, just isn't as innovative or original as the previous one was.

Did find a hilarious bug though. For some reason, when travelling forwards through time, the prince's body disappeared and from then on, all i controlled was a floating head and a floating weapon.

Sheesh people, do yourselves a favour and buy a joypad.

I agree with esuna - the original (well, Prince of Persia 4) had charm by the bucketload, whish is sorely missing from this one. It's fun though, and the combat is much better than in SoT. I just want it to be less angsty and have less of the stupid rock music.

Also, I'm about halfway through (I've just undergone a transformation, letting people know where I am while keeping it as spoiler-free as possible) and now after fighting a big flying boss beastie it keeps crashing. Bad show!

Finished it last night - overall impresion: bleah. Not at all satisfying, and there was a very annoying time-sensitive part (collapsing platforms - the bane of all games of this type) miles from any save points.

The movie at the end was good, but when all you can say about an ending is that then it's not really high praise. At least nothing stupid happened like time stopping. ;)

Bought this one today along with an analog Saitek gamepad. Loaded everything up and set to.

Could I make the game work? Could I bollox! The game pad wouldn't configure, the game wouldn't let me use the keyboard and there was the weirdest bug where my character would just keep running to the right. I uninstalled reinstalled, updated drivers, cleaned the registry and got thoroughly tee'd off with the whole thing.

I tried using the game pad with Vice City using a preconfigured 'gamepad profile' I downloaded from the Saitek web site. And that was just the same...crazy running to the right and no other keys worked. Seems the new game pad had buggered everything up !!!

Then I noticed that my Wingman joystick, which was still plugged into the gameport on my mobo, had slid down between the PC table and the wall. As soon as I moved it out and in doing so let the joystick re-centre (it had wedged itself over to the right when it got trapped) everything sorted itself out. Five hours of frustration because I left the joystick connected.

Time to call me tosser  :(

However I have played through the first level with Miss Fabulous-bottom. Bodes well for a fine weekend of swordplay and acrobatics. Nice call Benny :-)

I've got the hump. I got one of those PS2 usb convertors. Plugged in me gamepad and I get the same. I'm now thinking my flightstick isn't centered.

I can't get owt working in PoP, and in Fifa, it just cycles through the menus......

The controller setup recognises the pad..I'll try that tonight.

On the down side, I've had to stop playing cos there's some bits that are nigh on impossible (read: I lost my temper after 2 goes).

I just pulled the flight stick out completely, whenusing the game pad.
