Title: Server admin coverage
Post by: GhostMjr on January 07, 2005, 03:20:08 PM
Ok i felt this post should be posted in a secure channel as it is something that only dmw bravo and up shud have the decision of making.

Last night a few members and myself were on the public cz server. Redthunder suggested that we may need an admin to remove bots etc. I decided to check msn and mirc to c if any was available.TL was online but set as away and the other admins did not seem to be online.

As a comment could the delta/ tcs admins discuss whether it is feasible to have a rota for at least one tcs admin or delta member to be online on mirc or msn everynight. This is because if they r needed for serious or minor reasons, dmw members can inform you quickly and efficiently. We cannot do this however if no one is online. I know many of our tcs admins r very busy ppl and we do have some low admin rights ppl such as DA but i thought this would be an issue which should be thought about in the preceeding future for the protection of tcs and its newer counterpart tcz. if you have already discussed this then please delete my post!

Thanks

Scott

Starts tickling the allready blue looking fella.

BTW, I must say that when we play on our servers, sometimes Squonk or one of the other admins will ask for botremoval or so.

GJ admins!

Part of the problem just now is that I have problems getting the server logs into HLSW as do several of the other admins. We do not yet know the reason for this but it started shortly after a Steam update a month or so ago. Prior to that I would regularly have HLSW running even if I was not able to play and I could in that way provide admin duties even when busy with something else.

I'm hoping this will be fixed in Steam/HLSW soon and then we can go back to providing reasonably snappy support.

Well, it is not that simple. It works for me. I can be in game and admin through HLSW on another server.
