Title: Glastonbury 2005
Post by: Gh0st Face Killah on January 18, 2005, 01:54:19 PM
Tickets go on sale on the 3rd April at 9am. They have promised to have more people in the call centres to answer the phones etc etc. It will still be a nightmare to get through I imagine.

Tickets are priced at £125 + booking fee and are limited to two per person.

There will be no Glastonbury in 2006, They take every 5th year off so thats the reason. They have found a spring on site and are hoping to build a reservoir so they can supply all the water for the festival.

Personally I'm going to the Glade festival again this year, many people I know who went to both said Glade was the far better of the two.

Cheers for that Gh0sty.  The missus and I were thinking of going to Glasto again this year, and were just discussing last night about when the tickets might go on sale.  You've saved me having to look it up ;)

Rumours of who will be playing here. (http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php?hits_seen=0&FestID=790)

It’s been ten years of the Dance Tent at Glastonbury. To celebrate this and recognise the ever-changing face of dance music-the dance tent is moving and expanding at the festival. The new area will be called Suggs Dance Village-named after the piece of land that it’s on. (nothing to do with Madness!!) The new area will be situated on the West Side of the site near Gates 5 and 6. It will include the area where the New bands (renamed John Peel) Stage was and will expand to take up nearly 700 square metres.

There will be three tented venues; main stage will have a capacity of around 4500 people, second Stage at 2500 capacity and the third tented venue at 1200 capacity. There is also an open-air stage that will have a capacity of around 3000 for those of you (weather permitting) who like to dance in the open air! The new dance area will have in addition to this a lounge bar (Suggs Lounge) and 1920s Spiegel mirror tent (Pussy Parlure) as well as cafes and markets.

The organisers from the Glade and Avalon will be joining forces with the Dance Area to bring this new area to fruition: this will mean that there are a few changes to Avalon and Glade. The Avalon area has a new programmer and the music policy will be focused on folk music. The Glade will remain but just as an art installation with very ambient music, there will be no out door stage at glade, this will move over to the new Suggs Dance Area. The G Stage as it will now be known will follow the same musical programming as before Breaks Friday, Electronica Sat and Psy Trance Sunday In fact most dance music genres on site will be focused in the new area.

We plan to have a staggered shutdown of curfews with the new venues at Suggs. The main venues shutting at normal time of 12.30am and the others are shutting at various times up to 4am. One or two of the cafes will be open 24 hours.

Suggs Dance Village will have an vibrant, exciting and innovative line-up, all genres of dance music will be featured in the new area including; Roots and Reggae, Drum and Bass, Breaks, Grime, House, Techno, Trance, Psy-trance, Pop, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk and soul, electronica and Chill out to name some! The area itself will be decorated in a way that will be new, exciting, and pleasing on the eye.

There will be two new bars for the area. One will be lounge style bar called “Suggs Lounge”. This venue will have a relaxed feel to it with lots of tables and chairs-it will be a good place to meet. We hope to have a rolling programme of Djs coming in and spinning you their “lounge sets” The other bar will be larger in order to cater for the demand.
New to the area and the festival this year will be a Spiegel Tent also known as “Mirror Tent”. This is a rare and beautiful 1920s round burlesque- style theatre venue, made completely out of wood and mirror columns and complete with a central round wooden dance floor and glass chandelier. The venue will be called Pussy Parlure Café and will feature lots of new and exciting crowd participating activities such as a stars in your eyes style karaoke, Pop quizzes, Dance Classes, Giant floor games, fantastic bands and groovy djs. Again we also have more attractions that we hope to announce at a later dates-check web site.
There are also a few exciting additions that we hope to announce at a later stage.
