Dead Men Walking

Well, after a long wait here are the details for Dead Men Walking LAN VII.  
Please note that we have 44 places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  

Members of dMw's Bravo, Charlie & Delta Companies are hereby given advance notice of the event.  
Alpha Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 7 days,
so please do not mention it in the open 'Alpha' forum until Sunday 6th February

Note: Almost everyone turns up on the Friday between lunchtime and early evening to have a great social eating & drinking session.  Gaming then continues into the small hours. Turning up on Friday is highly recommended!

LAN VII Details:

NEW Dates:  Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April 2005
Venue:  Oliver Cromwell (http://www.olivercromwellhotel.co.uk/), March, Cambridgeshire.
Times: The LAN venue opens at 12.00pm on Friday lunchtime and the LAN will finish by 5.00pm on Sunday 24th April
Costs: For the venue - £15 total per head for the whole weekend
Costs: B&B room prices per night: £50 for a double, £50 for a twin room (ie £25.00 per person).  Sole occupancy is charged for the full room rate.
Room Availability: 35 x Double; 8 x Twin

As before, the low accomodation and function room rates have been negotiated ion the basis that the majority of the attendees will take their evening meals in the hotel's restaurant.  A large three course meal including coffee cost £13.50.  An A La Carte Menu is also available.  Eating at the hotel is NOT mandatory, but I am sure that any attendee from the last LAN will vouch for the quality fo both the food and company!

The Oliver Cromwell offers:

• 24/7 access to the suite
• dMw control of entry to the suite
• Late night bar
• Gymnasium
• Large indoor swimming pool
• Eight-person Jacuzzi

PLEASE BOOK YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL - CALL THEM NOW!
When calling you *must* mention that you are booking in on the dMw rate, otherwise they will charge you full price!
ALSO: When booking your room please give them both your real name AND your GAMING NAME so that I can keep tabs of who has booked and who has not.[/b]

When the Oliver Cromwell is fully booked you will need to book into the The Olde Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/oldegrif.html) which is 200yds down the road or a B&B etc.  

Amongst other things the LAN will feature:

- a list of officially supported games
- organised competitions
- official LAN Admins  
- late night gaming

We think LAN VII is going to be our best ever.  Book your place now to make sure you do not miss out!

Twin room booked, me and the sheep meister.  I wouldn't wait if I were you as there's only 8 twin rooms available and you may end up sharing a room with....well, someone unmentionable.

Btw, I was quoted £56 pounds on the phone not the £50 mentioned at the top of these posts.  Originally I was quoted £68 but forgot to mention i was with the dMw party.  Can someone confirm what the price should be?

Gotta check if I can get the time off work but put me down for a strong provisional yeas. I'll confirm tomorrow or Thursday.  :D

Price is as per my post.  I spoke to Roger Williams (the Manager) last Saturday and he confirmed th prices were the same as last time.

Its not been a good year for me regaurding computer stuff, just before christmas my new computer died and its taking some time to fix, cash flow problems. And now i find out all my timings have gone tits up and i'll unfortunatly be in Australia for the lan weekend...

You should be alright if we have the same setup as at the last lan as we had a broadband connection at the beginning of the lan for just such issues.

Can't remember if it was Guinness or Murphys.

When the LAN was booked we held a block booking on all rooms.  These rooms have then been allocated to members as individual bookings have been received.  I have today released the rooms remaining at the hotel that have not been booked.  So if you have not organised your room then it is your own fault!

We still have a couple fo places left for LAN VII, so book up now if you have not already.

I'm allready regreting it.  :( . I'm now sitting at home, searching for a job. At 14.00 I've got a little meeting with my boss (I'm headhunted as you guys call it). First I have to see what comes out of this.
Further along, a bit of a moneyproblem around then maybe due to work. And theres still school for me (okay, not that weekend but it costs alot of time).

One thing missing from my lists is a good car racing game, either something fun like midtown madness 2 or motocross madness 2 (tag was excellent :D ), or smething serious with "realism" and the like? Dunno if these sorts of games get much playing time, but I think something relatively simple and arcadey would be nice so we don't all spend 3 hours trying not to crash into the walls... :)
