Application for Membership of Bravo Company

PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW INFORMATION AS FULLY AS POSSIBLE

Proposer: -=[dMw]=-DuVeL
Seconded by: -=[dMw]=- DarkAngel
Seconded by: -=[dMw]=- Benny
Thirded by: Norm â€" I know he’s only a Bravo member, but we get on pretty well :)

Your gaming name: Barley or Bob Barley
Your real name:  Nige Hulse
Age: 21
Sex:  Male
Country: England
Date of birth: 06/03/1983

Please tell us a bit about yourself. For example, how long you have been playing CS/CZ/CS:S, what interests do you have outside the playing of computer games, what do you do (work/education etc) and any other information you feel would be helpful in order for our members to get to know you.

CS
I’ve been playing CS for about 4 or 5 years now. Since starting with CS I’ve also enjoyed playing CZ and at the moment DoD is one of my favourites too, I like the team play aspects involved in that game.

Work
I work for AXA as a settlements administrator, really boring really. Started with inputting, then moved up to checking other peoples. Now I’m starting to get involved in a few techie projects which are much more interesting :)

Interests
I’ve always been into computers. I love playing computer games, and I love tinkering with hardware even more :) I’m always messing with my PC, adding bits, changing others. Just recently I’ve turned my hand to PHP. I learnt HTML a long time ago so I felt PHP was a natural progression. Currently just working on pre-made sites like postnuke, invision board etc.

In your own words, how would you explain TCS to an outsider?

TCS (or Tactical Counter-Strike) is played on the basis of working as a team to complete the objective at hand. For example, on a de_ map the emphasise would be on working as a CT team to successfully plant the bomb and protect until detonation.

What type of player do you think is attracted to TCS?

Someone who can see the bigger picture, and cares more about the team winning than themselves.

In the previous question, which of those traits best describe you?

I like working as a team, and love the feeling when the whole team achieves their goal successfully, especially when there’s a low casualty rating too :P

Which do not best describe you?

Hmm hard one to word. I’ll always help the other team members out. If someone needs cover I’ll do it, or if a diversion is needed I’d do that too. You wouldn’t catch me wandering off frag whoring.

Why do you wish to become more involved in our community? Please state which aspects of the next Company appeal to you.

I love the team work I’ve seen displayed on the server, but I especially love the atmosphere on the forums. Everyone is a good laugh, and I find people know what they’re talking about. E.g. The computer room section. Plus it’s nice to be a little part of something closer to home :)

How do you think you would add value to the dMw community if your application is accepted?

I’m a friendly person, always willing to lend a hand. I like to have a laugh just like most people, and I think people get along quite well with me.

Have you ever been in a Clan before? If yes then which ones and why did you leave?

Yes, I’m still in FoCA

Which other games do you play?

I enjoy playing a lot of DoD, and I’ve been playing The Sims 2 a bit as well. I also like playing Diablo 2, although I’ve not been playing as much of that recently.

Do you have any questions for the Admins? (we will endeavour to answer any questions prior to assessing your application)

The completed form should be forwarded by PM to the Charlie Company member who has agreed to propose your application to the Community’s Admins. The Proposer will then forward your application to the Admins for consideration.

That's everything. If there's ANYTHING else that anyone wants to know, please just ask :)
[/b]

Here's our first nomination for Bravo membersip under the new system.  Comments please?

I like Bob Barley (BB2). He is pretty regular on the forums, definitely more regular on the servers than he has been (but then again there haven't been many on the servers for him to play with until the last few weeks).

For a Bravo I say yes. He has the potential to be a Charlie if he ever decided to go that way.

Must admit I would be worried if Benny was one of my seconders though

I've been too AWOL for the last six months to make a fair assessment (other than his forum activity which seems solid enough). So I've null voted.

Bob is actually the type of player I see as a real community player.  I'm not sure that he is going to want to go down the Charlie route, but he seems to be a mature contributor who will strengthen the ranks of Bravo.

As an aside, and looking at the new application process, I feel that we are missing something.  Maybe we should be asking the Proposer and Seconder for their views as to why they think the person would make a good member? After all, they've put their name to the application, but we don't yet know why.  Any thoughts?

I agree. It would ensure that the proposer/seconder has actually made a considered decision to support the applicant.

Just had a check through the Charlie Company Guidance notes:

QuoteIf you are approached to Propose someone for membership of either Bravo or Charlie Company then you (the proposer) will need send the prospective member the application form by PM (a template is provided at the bottom of this post). The fully completed form should be returned to you by the applicant. It is then your duty as an existing Charlie Company member to decide whether the application is sufficiently strong to warrant forwarding to the Admins for consideration. If in your opinion it is, then please forward it to either Oldbloke or TeaLeaf. The Admins will then deal with the Nomination and reply to the proposed member usually within 7 days. However, if you do not consider the application to be sufficiently robust then please politely advise the applicant that you do not feel that the application is strong enough - it may need re-drafting or it may be that it has become clear to you that they are not the type of member you wish to become a greater part of the dMw community.

We probably need to reword that section to make sure they pass their reasons with application (we had discussed this in the admin forum but then we didn't edit the guidance notes)

What do you know about the applicant?
He's been playing CS for a couple of years now and I know him from when I was in my previous clan CIGS, CoFR were friends of FoCA and we 've played a couple of practicematches. Since then I had him on MSN and that has been for quit a while now.
He does some computer work but I do not know exactly what he does.

Which character traits of the applicant do you think make them suitable for membership or best describe them?
He is a good teamplayer and knows alot about computers. If someone has a problem, he'll try and help out, he does the same in CS/CZ.

Which traits do not best describe them?
I can't think of anything at the moment....

How do you think they would add value to the dMw community if their application is accepted?
He would represent dMw in a good way I think, he even brought another FoCAmember to the board recently so that this fella can get to know TCS aswell.

Have they ever been in a Clan before? If yes then which ones and why did they leave?
He's still in FoCA but I don't know if he has intentions to leave FoCA.

Why did you decide to support their application?
-I know him quit a while;
-He's quit the teamplayer;
-He knows alot about computers and is willing to explain how to solve problems (also on MSN)
-He's ready for Bravocompany...

I believe that Bob would make a good dMw'er because......

Let's face it, you let anyone in ;)

As far as Bob goes, he comes across as mature, helpful and friendly, and doesn't appear to take umbridge at anything at all. Perfect cannon fodder. As you all know my playing days are few and far between, but the fact I don't have any comments on his playing style would suggest there's nothing wrong with it, as all the people whose styles/attitudes that do stand out tend to be for the wrong reasons.

Also the age restrictions on the FOCA clan would suggest he is the mature gamer in both senses of the word. He appears to knock about on a few other games, and frankly in my book he's welcome.

You gotta be thinking that if he's asking me, then he's either asking for trouble, or he's got nothing to hide and is, as he comes across, a jolly nice bloke ™

Sign him up I say.

Shout if you want more.
