I've been thinking about this a few weeks & finally decided to post about it -
Was the decision to move the servers purely to CZ/Source a good one? I know alot of people that are lost in the wilderness of CS without a home & most don't have CZ or Source & thus can't come & enjoy the dMw expirience, would it be an idea to put one or more of the servers back to normal CS? Its rare that we need more than 1 server & with the lack of bodies on the servers these days I would have thought the opportunity for more people to be able to play on the servers a good one.
Just a thought & I wanted to get everyone elses opinion.
Cheers.
I hear what you say Riz ...
But we can't justify running three different versions of the same game when at times we're struggling to fill a single server.
I feel we should drop the source server and just run CZ servers - one for TCS, one public and one for matches. But that's just my opinion. It's what the members want that counts.
It's no coincidence that members are looking to get their online gaming fun outside CS/CZ. We've all been playing it to death for years and the winds of change are blowing ... Battlefield 2 looking like a worthy successor. But who knows?
We go with the flow ...
Yea, I guess running even more versions would split us up even more, hadn't thought of it that way.
The odd thing for me is the UKCSLmatches in CS. Some don't have the correct skins for it because CZ put the old CSskins away.
I do prefer CZ over CS. I've played CS: S only as a Beta. Will get it in the summerholiday though.
For the rest I think people should just start a game on MH and it gets filled up pretty quick. We now have several people from dMw scatterd over several servers (I'm one of them aswell but when I see some people on the same server I'll try and ask them to come to MH with me).
So come on guys. C U all soon on MH!!!
On a purely personal point of view - were 1.6 to come back online I would definitely be a regular again.
However, were the clan to go the way of BF2... :D :D :D
Over at FoCA we run a CS server, a DoD server, and I believe a Source server.
I'd say the CS server is in use about 80/90% of the time, and the DoD server fills up nicely whenever a few people join, or we organise a fun night. I dislike CS Source so never play on that.
Overall splitting our resources over different games has worked out quite nicely there. We tried having two CS servers a while back, and the second server never, I mean never, got used. No one wanted to use it when they could see a much fuller server, they preferred to wait until a slot became available :)
1 CZ, 1 HP (sauce), and then maybe branching into others. BF2 maybe, all in the demand.
CZ does fill up, but I think at present we are past the days where we could run 2 full CZ /CS servers.
A Tiger Woods server, stunt car racer and maybe a Bust-a-Move server? ;)
I think a Source server and the CZ public server is a waste at the moe!
Like people have mentioned the Meathook CZ server is rarely full ALL the time and when it is, not for very long.
I believe...
a public CS 1.6 server with the most popular maps such as:
Aztec, Dust2 , Cbble ,Inferno [ example, when i play public i look for servers like this + they are always 90%full]
In my experience a server like this draws alot of attention and regulars, which boosts the community.
From the CS:Source point of view, we know its obviously going to be the future, but it also can discover alot of new players, who have recently bought Hl2.
They look to play CS:Source find a server and if they like it will keep going back because they have no need to go elsewhere. This is the key to a community.
Im very confused and are easy :P shh benneh
imo
Pub 1.6
Private CZ 1 for gaming 1 for matches.
:winkiss:
There will always be resistance to change. i want one good reason( apart from no-ones on the server) why CS1.6 is better than CZ? CS1.6 is crusty dry and i for one perfere the experience CZ and CSource give me over 1.6.
(you cant afford it is a bit of a cop out as well).
Im Full on for a bit of Battlefield 2 action when its released though!

PC World is still selling CZ for £9.99 where I live.
I do object to coughing out mroe money for what is largely the same game, just tweaked more, but once I finish these exams, and get some cash, I most likely will...
That said, many members of the public do still seem to prefer 1.6...

Many members of the public still prefer windoze. Guess what that makes many members of the public?

Forking out £10-20 for a better version of a game you've been enjoying for free for years isn't such a big deal, surely.
Well it is since I'm not really earning at the mo... :narnar:

it does, however, feel like a big deal to fork out £10 for a version of a game for which you own an even newer version... i.e. I have CS-S and CS1.6, however I never dabbled in the middle...
I might have to buy CZ
just for the lan <_<
well I shall be idling on our shiny new 1.6 public this evening if anyone is around....
82.197.65.246:27019 is the ip!
oo arrrr
Im still learning about CS, CZ and source, dont really like source at the mo, maybe when Doris gets it il give it a proper go.
Ive only been playing for 6 or 7 months so im not bored.
Ah yes, public 1.6. Pleasure on a stick.
Just popped onto the server for a mo, and I'd quite forgotten how poor public servers can be. We at least need to restrict AWP use.
Aaah, Public CS 1.6.
Lovely.
Swarming with french schoolboys who think we don't understand french swearing <_<
Remind me never to play there again
Well I had a great time! :P
