Ok, based on the list of components that people were interested in for LAN VII we have come up with an example price list. Please can we have your feedback and can you let us know if this is the sort of thing you want, or if you would like to place an order for anything. As Overclockers was mentioned in the original thread their prices have been put in brackets so that you can see the savings available.
I thnk you will agree that these prices offer superb value to the community members, so tell anyone who wants an upgrade to take a peek at this thread!

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 250GB SATA 16MB Cache: £85 (OC £102.17)
(prices for another brand will appear here shortly)
The terms offered aim to beat any price from Over-clock, Overclockers and Scan, usually by at least 5-10% so they are truly good prices! (this excludes their 'special offers which are believed to be OEM seconds). But if you want the cheapest going then the 'Special Deal' prices are likely to be matched but you would be provided with brand new 'A' grade product, not an OEM second.
If we get a nice package of orders together then hopefully the supplier will provide a nice piece of hardware for a prize to be given out at LAN VII.
Now that you know the prices are good, then if you want a quote for a specific component or package then post here and I will try to get one organised.
Finally, who is the mystery supplier? Well that would be telling wouldn't it! ;)
All will be revealed shortly.........
TL.
Budget upgrade pack and some hard drives added to the list.
TL.
9800 Pro or alternative rock solid gfx card :).
QuoteBudget Motherboard/CPU/RAM Combo:
Asus A8V Deluxe (wifi)
Amd 64 3000 £235
(2x512) Geil 3200 CL 2.5
ooh, much more appealing to my wallet :)
If the RAM was CAS2 instead of CAS2.5 (I think Geil do a not-much-more-expensive pair of cas2?) would that hike the price much? On that note, would it make a big difference anyway? :)
Nice work TL,
Put me down for the:

OCZ (2x512)Gold Ltd Ed EL 4400 £215 (OC £264.38)
Call it £380 ;) ? and provided it can come to the LAN so I can use it. I shall of course pay in advance. :)
PS. If our mystery supplier can put his hands on a Barton XP 3200+ 400FSB as well call it £450 for the lot. :winkiss:
New price en route for suicidal.
Albert i will get confirmation of the deal and reply.
TL.
I would like a 300gb hard drive please. However if cheaper the other alternative may is cheaper that will be my first choice aslong as the specs are better or equal to the maxtor drive

Ok I'm looking for an 80gb or 120gb eide hdd. Price please.
Would the mystery supplier be able to offer a better deal on a dual 512mb channel value kit such as the following product from OCUK?
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5 (GE1GB3200BHDC) (MY-005-GL) (£82.19 inc vat @ OCUK)
It's not stunning ram, but it was the best specs I could see at lower prices. All the CAS2 and better than 2.5-6-3-3 modules were usually easily more expensive...
Alternatively, can I get a price on a single 512mb stick of pc2700 ram (2.5-3-3-7) to match (any make so long as it's speeds are similar :) ):
Manufacturer : Samsung
Model : M3 68L3223CTL-CB3
Type : 512MB DDR-SDRAM
Technology : 16x(32Mx8)
Speed : PC2700U 2.5-3-3-7
Date of Manufacture : 25 December 1999
Set Timing @ 167MHz : 2.5-3-3-7
Set Timing @ 133MHz : 2.0-2-2-6
I've asked for the prices for both of you and will get back to you.
In the mean time I will try to get back to the difficult job of working out which bits of kit to order for an upgrade to a 64-bit system. I'm currently stuck on this problem:
- I like the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
- but I like the ATI graphics card
So why buy an SLI mobo and lose the slot space when i'll never run SLI! See the dilemma?
Do I stick with the mobo or go for a different one? Or should I go for an nVidia graphics card instead and keep the mobo? Or do I stick with both and lose the slot space? I hate difficult decisions like this
TL.
Just to really help you should also look at the LanParty sli board. Its a lot more configurable than the asus is. All the reviews of it rate it very highly. Personnaly I would go with an nvidia card so you can run sli at a later date.
imho SLi isn't something to think about unless you can actually afford the dual 6800gt option because although two 6600gt boards come close to or even beat a 6800gt there are issues with game compatability and stability. Plus, in 6 months you might find that 6800gt prices have fallen further than 6600gt prices and that SLi is then an option!
What you should probably do is ask yourself the question: "with all the onboard stuff on the Asus mobo, do I honestly expect to fill up all the available slots?" :) Then, considering that the SLi boards are running Nvidia chipsets it might be better to stick with Nvidia on the graphics front too? It also leaves the SLi option open so long as your gfx board is still available in 6 months!
Otherwise I guess you have to think up a different combo with a non-SLi A64 board, ...or go for the intel 64 bit option! :S

Sorry, no special price on Geil, but happy to price match. The supplier is good quality, so you won't have to deal with the Overclockers RMA team if it gores pear shaped! PM me to confirm a deal.

Also, can you get you hands on a Buffalo LinkStation 160?
:D Duvel how deep are your pockets m8,whatever's in them I can spend it.I aint got to the post office yet Duvel to check p and p,had to go out and do some real work today and Wednesday. :) I will sort it Thursday promise.
Snooks its a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI,the same one that Overclockers is selling @£129 atm ;) Probably get you oem cheaper if you dont require a cardboard box. <_<
Lib you can have retail cpu with Heatsink and fan or oem and i will supply suitable one for it.Network drives, just Lacie and freecom atm m8.

£102 :) (OC £129.19)
I thot normal price was £102, and cheaper (maybe) for OEM :)
Sorry, thought you where asking for sapphire one
oem one £94 :)
Decided to be sensible and pay off my car loan instead of upgrading (means my bank balance has dropped far too low to even consider) and some new Alpine Star SMX-03 gore-tex for biking (£180 of boots) didn't help matters.
Plus I sensibly  have all my insurance premiums coming up in May.
The old system is still managing to do the biz, Ill be in touch when the bank balance is back up again.
Norm, can you get any of those new-fangled mouse thingies! The Logitech raptor 1600dpi gaming optical jobbies?
I thinks I need a new mouse, I've had this one for a few years now and it is starting to smell.
I will have a mooch m8 and get back to ya. :D Not sure Logitech make them,if its the ones I'm thinking about.
Mooched and they are £27 for LAN deal, if you mean the razer diamondback 1600 dpi or £18 for M1
Yup it's the Razer Diamondback 1600dpi I was thinking about. :D
Is that £27 all in Norm?
If so I tinks I might have one. Cheque to the usual address is it or cash at the LAN?
Either will do m8,but read my pm to you first. ;)

My hint: download the latest drivers before you come to the LAN. My NForce mobo appears to stop the CD-supplied drivers from installing, and I had to go to v5 beta something or other (which have been great so far, by the way).
