Title: Religion
Post by: Benny on March 22, 2005, 01:58:48 PM
Well well, I was browsing around, and turned up a religious site. I'll insert my disclaimer here, I'm not religious.

If you are religious, then all power to you, that's your call. If you are homosexual, same holds true, it's down to each individual as to what they want to do with their lives to make themselves and those around them happy.

I'll admit the curiosity got the better of me here, and I like looking for contentious stuff, but this thread made me angry. Aren't I the touchy one.

Can you spot the asinine bullshit inside it. No offence meant...

ADMIN! Censor me!

QuoteBut ultimately, if you cannot change your feelings are OK with it beyond the religious sense, you might consider converstion to another faith.

Brilliant.

QuoteHomosexuality is not genetic and can be overcome... even if it takes a life time.

It's this one I liked. Who the f**k died and put them in charge of morality...oh yeah, Jesus, the unforgiving sob.

I may be wrong, but I don't see homo-sexuality or any form of sexuality as a 'choice' or an illness that can be 'overcome'.

QuoteAs long as you truely seek God and to honor Him, he shall not abandon you even in the midst of your sin.

What a load of self-righteous wotsits. Obviously that is their belief that homosexuality is a sin, but to condemn people?!?!?

Christians sadly have a real problem here. They have no real choice in their attitude to homosexuality. The bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ are pretty clear on the subject. Homosexuality is a sin and that's that. So as Christians they have to accept that and move on. Christianity doesn't allow people to believe in bit's of it. It's an all or nothing affair. So I completely understand where they are coming from. I utterly disagree with them, but I do understand.

I'm a Christian
I believe in the word of God.
God says homosexuality is a sin.
Therefore I believe homosexuality is a sin.

But God also said you shouldn't have women priests/ministers.
And God also said you should stone your wife if she wears clothes of two different cloths...

God apparently has said lots of things but until we get any real proof that he exsists I for one am not prepared to believe anything he has said, after all how do we know it was him and not just some idiots made up twaddle.

My point therefore being people only seem to accept and believe what suits them, as an excuse for bigotry, or any one of the discriminatory -isms

Ahhh ha someone has hit the nail right on the head. As always people plunder bits of it and then quote it willy nily to justify whatever cause they are fighting/rooting for.
