Not sold as yet, wasn't a storyline that had any depth, just "get the pilot out first" in my mind.

Later flashes look interesting, as though a little Hitchhikers had been added to the scifi risotto of scarves, floppy hats, robotic dogs and cling film forcefields.

Was last night's villain really a p*ssed off bowl of psychadelic custard?

TBH I thought they had kept the original concept that all episodes of the good Dr. has had since the word go

crap acting
crap special effects
crap scenery

and REALLY crap baddies

but its worked for years ....

I'll be watching again next week  ;)

That was a truley awful program especially put forward for a saturday prime time viewing. The bbc really must be cutting back, i would expect more than this.

See that's the biscuit though. It's appealing to those older than 12. It was twee and the special effects were crap, but it was in the spirit of the original.

When they make a re-make of jimbo and the jet set, you'll understand DA.

Until then, get your ass on the server (was good to see you the other night), and BFC you the same.

I loved it. :D

Favourite gag -  Rose not noticing her boyfriend had turned to plastic  :lmfao: Hats off to the writers for that one.

Yup, kinda enjoyed it.  Glad it's back.
Hammy/OTT/wild-eyed acting which was kind of Tom Baker'ish but that's what made it for me.

Ehm..  I think it left a lot to be desired. Remember the episode about 5 years ago, the Millennium special?  That was really cool and dark, but this onw was even a bit slapstick!

I'll still be watching it again next week though!  I've always liked Billie Piper :P

So you'd rather watch Ant and Dec on the other channel ;)

I enjoyed if for what it was - part homage, part fresh.  Thoroughly good fun.  Just waiting for a scary episode so I can hide behind the sofa like an 8 year old again.

Definitely see what someone on here said about the Hitchhikers ref.

Still not sure myself but then again I had been drinking for 2 days by thge time it came on so was probably not in the best state to judge it. Will watch next week just to make my mind up obviously.

Now THAT's funny ;-)

And not even an April fool... Man the Beeb must be kicking themselves for not tying him in. And of course he leaves just in time for all the merchandising featuring his face to appear.

Which either makes it worthless, or "limited edition" and consequently incredibly valuable in 20 years' time.

I reckon BILL NIGHY or RICHARD E GRANT would be pretty good Doctors :)

"nd instalment was a lot better ...

some of the aliens did look like Star Wars extra's ....and the ickle spider things looked like they were very much based on the Replicants from Stargate, but still

an improvement

'Did you go online and pretend you are a doctor?"
"I am a doctor"
'Prove it, stitch this mate!'

I think they should go back to using older bad tempered Doctors :)

Bill Nighy would be a good Time Lord :P

i thought the series was quite good, enjoyed it as light entertainment.  My 4yr old enjoyed it as well.
Eccleston played the part well.
Hopefully the new bloke doesn't play the part like a complete twat (Sylvester McCoy springs to mind).

Tony Head would be an excellent Dr Who (Hugh Grantish - muttering, bumbling idiot whose good to laugh at)

Yeah he'd probably be quite good in the role too.
