I just got ADSL installed on the 30th and since then my game has deteriorated. I used to think I was a reasonable player, mostly getting more frags than deaths, but now it is the other way round :cry: :cry: .
I have changed my rate, cmdrate and updaterate and I get very little loss or choke, mostly they are 0 when I check.
I've played at LAN sessions before and seemed to kill people quite easily so I can't see any real reason for this.
Maybe I'm just having a crap period or my hangover is worse than I thought it was :?:

i think you'll find its the christmas cake. its made your stomach an inch bigger offsetting your optimal hand to mouse positioning therefore reducing your effective shot to kill ratio..... or could it be that everyone else has just got amazingly better all of a sudden. :lol:

It is natural. Trust me I have experienced the same when i went from modem to adsl. When you have high ping/loss you learn how to aim to hit your opponent. That is you aim slightly off target. When you get better ping and aim the same way, you will miss. It is just a period of time before you get used to the new settings.
Also rest periodes take alot out of ya somehow:D i came back to playing after 1 months break, and suddenly i couln't hit shit, and after 1 hour i was hitting more than usual :) wierd huh :D

Over time I got nearly average on 56k and as soon as I went to ADSL my game fell apart. Obvioulsy it's down to ping rates and adapting your mouse movements to compensate.
After getting better again I stopped playing CS in May (err last year) and spent most of my game time playing single player FPS. I've just started playing CS again and am hopeless. I guess I'll have to work my way back to average by practising.
There probably are a thousand thngs that affect your game, connection speed being one of them. New mouse, new chair, room lighting etc etc all contribute. You just have to bang away with the new set up and hope, like me 8O , that things get better.

Yup as soon as i went to cable my hit ratio went straight down the pan.....and i agree that so many variables can effect game play.
I feel the worst thing to change is a mouse...OMG...weeks and weeks it takes me to get back to sub standard :lol:
I would recomend Bot killing for an hour....Awp_map....Bots no guns...20 bots or more all attacking....You only use pistol :wink:
To help stack the attacking team i use

Phew, at least I haven't wasted my money then. I was thinking that it might be the client side prediction that might be making the difference and was thinking of turing it off. But the general consensus is to persevere and so I shall! :o|:

where as on broad band all it is is point and press, i used to have an excellent xhair for my ping it was a red dot with a blue circle around it about 2cm away on my screen, i just used the blue circle to aim at running enemys as i knew that it would then hit them if i gave them that much lead. since the format i lost that xhair and i cant find it anywhere
