hey guys,
ive just tryed upgrading my cpu and it doest work :|, it seeks for the CD-ROM drive but the screen does not come on, it just stays on standby and windows doesnt load.
ive narrowed it down to my new CPU or PSU.
the new cpu is a intel celeron d 320 2.4ghz
my motherboard supports p4 and is running an intel celeron at the moment so that should b fine.
my PSU is a HEC-300AR-PT and all i know is that its quite old.
i looked on itels site and my old cpu apparntly runs at 1.7v and i think my new 1 should run at a max of 1.4v
any ideas?
edit: my psu is this 1 :

Does your motherboard support celeron d? that is the question.
You say your old one is a celeron but not a celeron d so if you have the same mobo i think your mobo doesn't know the celeron d.
If that is the case try a bios upgrade.
Otherwise i dunno...
the moby only says p4 compatable but it runs my old celeron, ill look for a bios update
cheers
ok its my motherboard
it doesnt support celeron d
now do i send my cpu back or look for another motherboard or contact the motherboard company and ask them if then can get the board 2 suport celeron d?
there isnt an offical bios update that adds compatability for celeron d,
ive emailed them abd am waiting for a reply.
any suggestions?
regards
KC

RTFM first. :winkiss:
why not upgrade to a p4? celerons are poo (at least all the machines ive tried to use that have them are)
:withstupid:
And they fold like a girl. ;) :lmfao:
:)
if u keep the celeron d and buy a new board, i bet the cost of both would be higher then a new P4.
How much was the celeron d and how much wold a new board cost?
