It's probably an open secret among the er....nerds but I just discovered it after running NAV2000 (extremely cheaply I might add) I can attest to the fact that it IS very good. Updates are regular and unobtrussive (having no truss) and very quick. I would actually PAY for this. I checked what the pro version gave you in addition and decided.....not a lot. Get it. Everyone. :D
P.S. I ran the statutory scan and bugger me if it didn't find a trojan downloader and another nasty that neither Norton nor TrojanHunter found!
Am I getting across? Get it. Now, while stocks last.

Ok just a quick question on avg free! If it finds viruses on your computer what do you do?
a) delete them, does this mean delete from the computer or from the vault so they are put back in the computer?
B) try to heal them if that doesn't work leave them there
c) leave them in the vault your computer is safe
I spoke to Albert about this a few days ago and he wasn't too sure either!
Thanks
Oke then thanks a lot, i will try that one.
Do i have to make some changes or is it ok the way i downloaded it.

You should be OK to just install it from memory.
Avast 4 (http://www.avast.com/)
I use this, again its free, you just register and get a years licence via email, then when it runs out you apply for another.
It has a very professional feel to it and a good user interface. It has a resident update agent which updates the defs and program automatically when connected to the net (very much like McAfee). It loads modules as they are required, fire up Outlook and the outlook scanner starts up.
Virus defs recently have been updating every other day. The web scanner freezes the relevant connection when it notices Java trojans from web sites and gives you the option to abort the connection or continue (duh!). It found a couple of nasty files that McAfee hadn't even noticed after I installed it.
Pretty good reviews, I chose it over AVG because of its feel, interface and user feedback I found on the web.
Everybody thinks their antivirus program is better then the other guys antivirus program. Well it's not! My antivirus program is better than your antivirus program. So there. :coolio:
AVG's great for nowt. I use a version of work's Enterprise McAfee/NAI stuff personally.
AVG dumps stuff in a vault which I routinely purged, can't remember if it will automatically delete e-nasties.

Personally I would delete them but have a look here (http://www.free.grisoft.com/doc/FAQ/lng/us/tpl/v5) to see if you get an answer.
I use AVG at home, it does a godo job. I tend to delete immediately or purge the vault if something is put put there. I use Sophos at work, bloody expensive but seems to do a good job. When the licence runs out though I will be following Gandalf's recommendation and will take a look at the one he uses.

Just checked out 'Avest!' The open menu sound in skins mode has been stolen from simcity2000, the voice talent sounds exactly like that from some online samples I heard, and I wonder where they got the rest of their sounds from, which seam poorly resampled and naf. I just thought you should all know this, in hope that it will help you decide which virus scanner is really the best...
;)
Actually, the reason is post is because that sim city sound brought about some nostalgia, in the good sence of the word. Iv never played any one the new simcitys though. I apologise for being very off topic and random. but I use AVG Free, though I don't like the interface and the way it pops up dialogs while updating. Is there a way to turn that off? (EDIT: ignore that question, I just noticed the 'Display information about update process' option. Heres hoping thats the one )
AVG is good... we use it ... and always have
