I think I have obsessive compulsive disorder, I play things, I want things, then I tire really quickly and move on.
So once I've got a copy of that Superheroes thing, I'll get bored after a week. WoW is holding me just about, I've seen a new mod today that might help and get rid of the annoyances I have with it. But anyway, I was reading about a mod for source (and I think for older versions) last night that sounded like a good laugh, and BB has a server...or could have if he tried harder..
The mod is in this months PC gamer, called Hidden I think, but it's essentially like Predator. You have 8 CTs versus one T which in this case is an all but invisible. The Predator only has a knife and the obligatory shimmering when he moves, the CT's have a full quota of gear. If you kill the pred, you become him, and so on.
I reckon it could be a laugh, anyone fancy having a go?

Blueball has run a server at one point but we are waiting on the next release (should be very very soon). Its fun to play, As a marine its very tense, especialy if you stray from the crowd. As hidden (i suck) but its fun sneaking about trying to pigstick the opposition.
The initial release was very buggy and was basically a taster to get some fan interest and start the ball rolling. Most of the mod team actualy go to the same Uni (only recently finished) and are all from Lincoln. I know a couple of the guys in RL. One of the mappers worked for EPIC on UT2004 so expect some nice fresh maps that move away from hl2 textures (if they can get it working properly befor the release).

EDIT: really need to try and read properly. Sorry benny, ignore alot of the stuff above, it appears as though I didn't fully read ur post :S
Excellent MOD, good fun but the server crashes every 12 hours which they are going to fix in next release. Once release fixed my "Hidden" server will be back online :)

Starting the server isn't the problem. the problem is keeping it running because the MOD keeps crashing.
We are all hoping the the updated version will be released this week but TBH they have only said that they will try to get it out in May.
Buggy as all get-up, and don't play on a public since there are an awful lot of lame exploits (such as unhiding the Hidden player).
edit: for a moment there I was all interested, thinking this thread was going to be about pulling together some kind of modding team from the dMw ranks.

yeap the taster is very buggy. But I am told that those exploits have all been sorted in their internal beta. There are just a couple of bugs left in the spawn code where a marin will spawn with no weapons and another bug i cant remember.

Feel free to jum pforward Maus, there is a huge range of abilities in the community, that would just need organising and pulling together,
Alas I have no time for anything of the sort, really. Would be fun though.
Why not - we could just make a dMw mod - nothing overly major, maybe make a mod for CS (1.6 is easiest to mod) just to remove any particular things that bother you in the game, or things you wish were implemented?
We have mappers here (I'm not overly great myself but I can get by on it) As it wouldn't be anything overly major it shouldnt be too time consuming, and maybe it would keep interest going during the summer, when typically the servers and games flag a bit?
Not bad had a quick go :)
The first map is a good remake :) skilled
k guys, just thought I would bump this hidden source thread :)
There was a beta test last night and the game ran stable on a linux box for the 5 maps, each running for 25 minutes.
The windows/linux dedicated servers should be released by Monday Morning, the client will be releaed Tuesday night. They have a PR guy pimping the game.
I hope you will all beable to join me in a game of "the Hidden" very soon :)
