Title: MSN 7 Problems
Post by: killcrazy on May 18, 2005, 06:06:03 PM
when im sent a .jpg , .bmp or .gif and sometimes .exe files over msn 7 i recieve the following message and cannot save or download the file:

Quote*name* tried to send you a file (picture.jpg). This file has been blocked because it is potentially unsafe.

i have "scan for errors using..." in the msn options UNchecked
i also know of a few other people who have the same problems.

the strange thimg is i can download .mp3, .wav and .mpg quite happly on it

is there anyone who has had/resolved this error?

oh yea, can .jpg's contain viruses anyway???

Regards
KC

you didn't notice the big alrert that went round and the fixes that MS put up for picture file handling a couple of months ago?

What you can do for the files is to change the extension.
For example: the file.exe, just turn it into: file.ex_ or so.
It usually gets you around the antivirus stuff.

I would hazard a guess that Outlook Express is set to block 'attachement which could contain a virus' Go to optoins\Security and uncheck the box. That's if you use Outlook Express.  :)
