What a great lag out on Aszune

Even Valve would be proud of that one

Again?  Wow-europe and game servers are down for me.  Anyone know if this is related to the short-notice reboot they carried out at about 11.00pm last night?

I believe they had several issues with their logon servers yesterday. The forum, account management and logon systems were causing big problems. Add to that a serious issue with Warsong Battleground and it wasn't as great day for them. That being said the stability is getting very good now.

Still doesn't make disconnecting from the server much un when you are in the middle of Stratholme !

We still suffer massive IF, AH and mailbox lag on Aszune...........

I was in UBRS two nights ago and was playing with a 2000ms ping for about 20 minutes; I checked my connection and it was not a problem at *my* end or at Hi-V's end - it was at their end of the routing.  Shortly after that and as we approached the boss we were after we got the 'Server will restart' message.  What a waste of time that was  :ranting:

Last night was horrible in IF, on AH and for mailboxes; we went to Scholo and lag wasn;t too bad, ping stayed relatively at about 200ms although we all suffered a couple of big ping spikes (sod's law, just as we pulled the boss mobs in both cases) and I also suffered a DC.

Blizz have some work to do still on Aszune

You're describing something that certainly effects Argent Dawn so I'd guess it's not realm specific. The problems in Lagforge are renouned and worrying as Blizzard have admitted they have no idea why it happenes there.

However I rarely suffer from lag spikes elsewhere (except the last couple of nights as discussed).

Surely lagforge is the way it is because everyone is trying to access the same area at the same time?  Mailbox, bank, AH.  Plus the fact that the server is having to plot the movements of potentially a hundred different player characters at the same time?  It was always exactly the same problem in SWG whenever you went to the main capital city in Coronet.  I don't think you can ever expect it to change - It's simply a bottleneck.

I was soloing RFD the other day and that crashed - just the luck of the draw I think Tealeaf.  Sods law that it always happens in instances when you have a great group :(

Stick to Feralas - much prettier and quieter with none of those drunken dwarfs headbutting each other  ;)

Oye Longlegs, I'll have no bad words said about Dwarves. Unless you want to see what my Stormwind Sewer Beast Pet looks like, from the inside! Ye colth wearing flowersniffer!

Ironforge is a unique location. As soon as I get there I always have about 20 sec of freeze and then I can run about the AH/Bank area no problem. It's a pain but as long as you don't move towards the trench before the lag hits you won't find yourself falling in and getting a roasty bottom.

Oh and overnight I see that Azsune has been relisted from a Medium population to a High population server.

The low, medium and high populations are relative. High doen't mean the server is nearly full it means it's one of the servers with the highest population. For example if three out of ten servers were half full and the rest were empty, then the three half full ones would be listed as high. They may in fact be still half empty. I don't understand it ether.

I wasn't linking the lack of being able to log on to the server population rating change; rather I was lamenting the fact that we are now in the 'popular' category with lots of characters online and therefore almost certainly more likely to suffer the lag problems that we have been suffering recently.

Last night was a classic example - invites for the raid went out to L60 Guild members at 18:30hrs and within 3 minutes we had a 40 strong raid party forming at Molten Core to go summon and kill Majordomo and then, hopefully Ragnaros.  We managed to wipe on the Firelord, Stone elemental and Giants at the very entrance due to the lag we got - averaging over 2000+ms for most people on the latency monitor, but in reality a 30 second lock up followed by 0.5 seconds of action (then repeating that cycle).  We had to abandon and reform at 19:30hrs but the same happened so we gave up altogether.

The annoying thing about lag like that is that we do Onyxia on a Friday night and then by Saturday the instance will have been reset, so next time we go into the Molten Core instance we will have to start all over again and kill the first 8 bosses all over again in order to reach Majordomo again :(

Higher population means more chance for lag to my mind - and it was that I was lamenting :(
