It’s a dirty job but should someone do it?
The question is should we designate squad leaders for normal play on MH?
IMHO…. Yes we should….
These are my thoughts…….
1 having a leader brings the team together and helps to achieve a common goal
2 PCS is based on communication and following/giving orders
3 its good practice for anyone wants to take control
4 It helps us understand and work out different set plays
5 Improves the quality of games
6 Promotes PCS to new players
7 Just one voice controling the team reducing confusion
My personal feeling is…..
If one of the players wants to put in the effort and take a command role I will do my best to follow his instruction..good or bad…
The forum is now open :D
Most of the times this is happening by itself on the servers. But it is good if more than a handful of people does the commanding.
We still have lot of members (especially the new ones) that don't have a microphone. A problem ...
Edit:
oh btw I also did an Albert. See further down. ;)
i do take charge quite a bit of the time, i just get used to it then i do it all the time , force of habbit, i also try out new tactics that i think of then i use em in clan games
I know people end up taking charge especially on maps people haven't played before, but I don't think we should have designated SLs but just leave it as it is.
my 2peneth
Oh bollox, I put yes when I meant no!
I think since it's really about fun on MH, ok PCS type fun, we should just let things run their course.
If someone really wants to lead on a map, they can say to everyone else, "do you mind if I play SL this map please?".
They are essential for matches IMHO but for a relaxing game of CS on MH we really don't want to be getting bombarded with orders or moaned at for exercising our freedom.
Having squad leaders on MH will drive non-dMw people away.
:stupid: Who I agree with but I managed to vote 'no'.
free play is just that, free play. Squad leaders on general MH play would be a disaster.... may put off many new commers as well.
I'd go with no aswell. Leaders tend to lead anyway, and it's cool to be able to adapt change on the fly.
Free play should be fun, with plenty of room for trying different things.
in my case;

Dying from armshots
Dying from headshots
Dying from a stubbed toe
I don't think that nominating an SL for a map would be a great idea as it would put too many N42 GhostRecon-type of restrictions on who does what and when. It's nice just as it is - different people tend to lead on different maps. Some maps even lead themselves!
When I join the server I tend to wait to see who is giving the lead on a map. If nobody seems to be providing any direction then I'll try to step in so that we at least have a coherent strategy. But sometimes all it needs is one of the more experienced players to just remind people of what they should be covering or doing. When I 'lead' (substitute 'get killed first' for 'lead' as appropriate) I try to remember to ask for other's opinions and ideas (probably not often enough  ) but rarely does anyone come up with anything. Other people's ideas are welcome - honest!
Being an SL for a map is actually much harder than most people think and I'm not sure that everybody would want to do it. But if you DO - then pipe up and give it a go - nobody on MH would bite your head off for it :D

I'm in the no camp. For most of the reasons given above.
Smacks of authoritianism I think. One of my many problems is authority. Being led is one thing, being ordered about is another. The games I play on MH are always enjoyable. Don't spoil a good thing.
wot Albert so eliquently put
but with a NO
no no no!! :x :x
Some good points made on this topic …….from the looks of the poll people are happy with the play on MH…(don’t fix it if it is not broken)
I agree that we should never have a system where people are ordered around but I tend to enjoy the games better when we have a guy in command / calling the plays
As sadako says we have a handful of people who take up the challenge and they do a great job..So what happens when these people go off line ???? The game turns into a everyday server with boundaries and people start playing a more individual game (sometimes this happens)
If people are turned away from PCS by the fact someone is trying to get the team to work together then they should ask if PCS is for them
If battle chatter is low and the team plays a couple of rounds with no commander why not have a go…I know I will

Being serious again for a second, JAS, I think this was a very valid and enlightening poll. Exactly what this medium should be used for, to voice opinion encourage debate and possibly highlight a few things you may not have considered or felt were not as important.
I'm more than happy to follow your orders if you play SL when I'm on your team :D .
lol its always nice to know poeople would follow to certain death
But the thing to remember is that we're following you out of curiosity ;-)
ROFL :P :P :P :P
