I will buy it but am concerned it will go the way of the other Battlefields. Another flash-in-the-pan
Oh and I'm not 100% anything atm.
BF2 certainly is putting on a good show.
If my comp can handle it. :(

We ( [dg] ) still very occasionally have little lans and the like and bf1942 has been one of the most played games at them. It's an excellent team game but you really have to play it as a team. Either TBF style or Clan-War style. If you manage to invade a server online and find a handful of team-players, or if there are at least 3 or 4 of you, then it can work too! :D
I haven't played an FPS for a while, haven't played anything for that matter.
But...I played BF last night and aside from the pubbers who weren't into co-operating, it was good. I quite enjoyed raining artillery on Oldie and son. I think given a bit of organisation it would make a good tactical game, holding positions, clearing out new, utilising the commander more.
I'll be getting it....

roll on the 22nd !!
:D
is it not out on the 24th in europe
I'm not sure yet, either the net code's crap or the servers nasty (only played it on ours atm) I keep getting conection errors all the time - not very usefull when trying to fly a plane & you find yourself a few foot away from the ground after it sorts itself out, & as its gonna be something I'm gonna be playing online alot..........
So is it just me or does it run fine for everyone else?
i was going to buy it.... but im not sure see what everyone says about it first .... then try it out ... need a better connection to play it tbh

I get that too. Could be the demo, we'll need to see how the release goes :)

Have yo set your connection settings to 256K DSL or cable, rather than the T1/LAN default? That's supposed to get rid of some connection issues.
Netcode seems okay to me, but I'm still used to being a modemer so it's a little difficult to tell. On servers local to me it seems pretty spot-on though.
I think this is gonna be great, 18 people buying it, then up to another 8 over the next few months. We could end up with 13 a side! Quality!!!
Although im a CS man :)
I might buy it seeing as theres a fair few fellas dMwers.
Ill dl the demo 2day somtime.

Me too, it looks like I'll have to invest in a new GFX card - if I can swing it past "the management"

I can't wait for BF2. Imagine, we only have to listen to Doris for 2 seconds at a time
Ordered mine from PLAY today!
CD-WOW are doing it cheaper, but its the cdrom version.
Getting it delivered to work, but if it arrives on Friday I'll be off!!!!!! :o
Looks like I may have to zip in on the bike if it doesn't arrive on Thursday, the last few time I've pre-ordered from them it arrived 1 or 2 days early.

I think I found out what my problem was, seems the sudden heat wave had fried some of ntl's kit, thus leaving me with a crap connection for the last few days & no connection all weekend. So after spending most the weekend with only the single player mode to entertain me, it seems to run fine, i'll give it a run out online later & if all goes well prolly stick an order in for it.
Apparently mine has been shipped today :D Sendit.com £23.99 incl. p&p
P.S. I lied about the £23.99. £29.99 incl of p&p. Don't know why I did that, must be the weather. 8)
wether it'll run properly or not, I've just ordered it, I can't have you lot running of & playing something without me.
::Edit::
Mines been shiped, so enjoy your freedom while you can, i'll be ingame soon to crash hellecopters & drive like a maniac soon hopefully.
