Title: CZ Funeral
Post by: A Twig on June 21, 2005, 10:50:53 AM
As we are all going to be going over to BF2 can we have a last CS:CZ night on the servers where everyone turns up and plays?

Wednesday or Thursday perhaps?

And set a time for a last night on CZ madness? What are thoughts?

Are we?  I couldn't find the announcement advising of the move to BF2 (an as yet unreleased game), so would be grateful for the link to the post.

(Is that going to be  the offical prognosis then, DMW are definately going to move over to BF2 at some stage?)

I'm still up for playing CZ. I know you lot don't see me often but it's never far from my thoughts......

However over the last couple of weeks whenever I've checked the server they have been empty. I thought it was more that WoW had taken hold.

Perhaps still have dedicated game times for CZ - i.e. 9pm on a certain weeknight. We do that at the Federation of Kings for AOK and it works well. That way those who are still interested will at least be able to get together. (Apologies if this has been suggested elsewhere)

:withstupid: I'll still be playing Counterstrike. I am going to get BF2 but we're still even in ED and all that. 4 me it's still up and running and it will stay that way.
But getting everybody up for some CouterStrike-evenings is a good idea (lots of people who play WoW and BF2). If they'd join us for a bit on the servers, that would be nice.  8)

Pen, alot of us can be found on the BoDserver sometimes.
I sometimes start a game up on Razer aswell but the other day I've waited around 30 minutes and no-one joined, then went to BoD and after an hour on BoD a few people started playing on Razer so me and Cain went to Razer.
When playing on BoD I allways check out the server.

Some of you losing your minds.
We arnt moving to BF2 just another game of the community.

I hope BF2 will be like the DOD thing, wont last very long. :P

However i do think the CZ night where all players dedicate atleast one evening to the MH or likewise.

I think all three games will co-habit nicely within the community. Those of you going nuts about BF2 taking over should remember that the demo's only just been released and therefore we're hooked on it right now. I'm sure when the game comes out we'll play it even more for a while, but I'm sure counterstrike will still be played lots. hopefully they'll sort out Source soon :eyebrow:

Whoa.. easy fella..

I seriously doubt that after a couple of weeks that BF2 will replace CZ. They are both extremely different in gameplay.

Also, we have to look at the reality that not all of our members will be able to play BF2 due to the hefty resource requirments.

I'm with Duvel.

For clarification.  Just in case anyone missed the (what i thought was) clear message I intended to give in my above reply:

We are not a BF2 community.

We do not have any secret plans to steal your CS/CZ/CS:S code and burn it ceremoniously, we will not be selling BF2 through the dMw Shop.  So ALL talk of a farewell night to CZ or any other flavour is clearly complete tosh.

/sighs

Ok, maybe I was being a little over dramatic - but the point I was making still stands, perhaps a little organisation and we could get some cracking nights on the Hook like we used too.

I'll give BF2 3 weeks....if it's still on a dmw server then, it's a good 'un.

it will take an incredible game to take over from cs for any length of time....tink about it...how many games have you played, that you thought " wow, this is the new cs"?

my answer...1....BF2...but only maybe atm

as long as someone replicates the cs maps for BF2 with extra destroy, defend missions i'd move over to BF2 because it offers so much more, graphicaly, playability etc. However the simplicity of CS, i.e. the limited nature of what you can do certainly makes it easier to play short concise rounds, without the added hassle of limiting weapons, etc that you'd probably have to introduce if bf2 replaced cs.
